Amongst the most difficult types of patience is patience in refraining from committing from actions of speech and sexual wrong actions. Wrong actions of speech - such as backbiting and slander, telling lies to create trouble between people, praising oneself explicitly or implicitly, and insulting people - are all entertaining and enjoyable. it is easy to move one's tongue and speak, so the patience required to abstain from them is particularly difficult.

Whoever has a strong motive to commit a wrong action and has the means to do so, will face a great difficulty in exercising enough patience to abstain.

In facing situations that are beyond one's control, people may have any of the following reactions:
1. feeling helpless and discontent, panicking and complaining.
2. responding with patience, either for the sake of Allah or as a sign of human strength
3. accepting and being content with the situation. This is a higher status than patience.
4. meeting the situation with thanks and gratitude. This is even higher than acceptance, because in this case a person sees the adversity as blessing and thanks Allah for putting him through it.

Patience and Complaint
Complaint falls into two categories:
The first type means to complain to Allah, and this does not contradict patience. It is demonstrated by several of the Prophets, for example, when Ya'qub alayhi salam said:
"I only complain of my distraction and anguish to Allah" (Yusuf 12;86)
Earlier Ya'qub alayhi salam had said "sobrun jamil" which means "comely patience" or "chiroyli sabr".

answer from a book!
Allah has created us in such a way that we feel the difference between times of ease and times of hardship, and all that we can do is refrain from panicking at times of stress. Patience does not mean feeling the same at both easy and difficult times. That is beyond us, and is not part of our nature.

Does patience mean not seeing any difference between times of ease and times of hardship, and being content all the time?

Sabr is an Arabic word which comes from a root meaning to detain, refrain and stop

We live in an era of overwhelming western influence where two major ideas are upheld and promoted:
1) The expectation of instant gratification ,whereby few people are prepared to wait, or word hard, or suffer temporary hardship, to get results. People see a world depicted on TV and in movies, and they want it, now. Immediate satisfaction is expected in this world, so how must it be for such people in terms of preparing themselves for the Hereafter?!
What is the second idea?

Children and Screens (level B2-C1)
The World Health Organisation issued new guidelines on physical activity and sleep for children under 5. The guidelines overall echo what many parents have been saying for years.
Generally, children should move more, sit less and get enough quality sleep so that they grow up physically and mentally healthy. Children between the ages of 1 and 4 should spend at least three hours a day in a variety of physical activities, and infants less than 1 year old should also be physically active several times a day.
The WHO says that kids between 2 and 4 years old should not spend more than an hour a day watching an electronic screen, and kids younger than that should not be looking at them at all.
words to learn:
- issue (send out),
- echo (repeat, say again),
- infant (a baby).

Insect Ice Cream (level - B2-c1)
At a store in Cape Town, South Africa, food technicians turned maggots into ice cream. The employees make a juice from the maggots, add ingredients like cocoa, and put the insects into the ice cream-making machine.
An employee explained that this is good for the environment, as the maggots are normally thrown away or given to pigs. A professor said that people are willing to eat gourmet burgers made from insects, but they may not be willing to eat ice cream like this. He said that plant alternatives to dairy taste better and are culturally easier to stomach.
People who tried the ice cream said that it tasted like organic or vegan ice cream. The store wants to spread from South Africa to other parts of Africa, Europe, and then the United States.
words to learn:
- maggot (a soft, legless larva of a fly or other insect which looks like a worm),
- stomach (digest or eat; understand or accept).

Insect Ice Cream (level - A2-B1)
In Cape Town, South Africa, food scientists turned maggots into ice cream. The employees make a juice from the maggots, add sweet ingredients, and put all of it in the ice cream-making machine.
An employee explained that this is good for the environment, as people are recycling the insects instead of throwing them away. A professor said that people may not want to eat this ice cream because plant alternatives taste better and are culturally easier to stomach.
Some people tried the ice cream and said that it was good. The store wants to spread around the world eventually.
words to learn:
- maggot (a baby insect that looks like a worm),
- plant alternative (a food made out of a plant that is not typically made from a plant, such as a meat, milk, or cheese),
- stomach (accept – say ‘yes it’s fine’ and eat it).
