After 1,200+ students, I know ppl don't need more information, they need to actually do sth with it. I told him straight, I don't wanna give you the plan yet. What I Learned Watching a US$400K/Month Coach Get Whacked by His Mentor Hellooooo!! Super cool goodie I want to send to yall today :) In short, I recently watched a 21-year old Malaysian doing USD400K/m get coached live by his mentor, & it hit me harder than anything else this year haha He came to the call asking about biz strategy, funnels & content/ads, but the biggest value he got was WAY BIGGER than that (seriously) Regardless of the stage of business you're in, I'm sure it'd be super valuable for you!! A client closing 80-90% still needs 25-30 invites for 15K a month. His best month was about 8K, & he wants 15K a month by year end. 1) At his current package, 15K a month means about 7 new clients. 2) Even at 80-90% closes, I'd still plan for 9 calls (just to be fair ya). 3) 9 calls means about 25 invites, plus a buffer for ppl who book later. So just 7 new clients a month meant 25-30 invites. But tbh the EASIER move is to work on his offer, so his current package becomes the downsell, not the main thing. Either way, he needs a lot of new ppl every month, so I asked how often his clients renew, & he said not that often. I told him, if you're just meeting expectations, ppl will leave, or they'll always be shopping around. With my own clients, I over-deliver with stuff that's NOT advertised, like events, connecting them with clients, or sometimes messaging them on the spot about their content. I also spend an hour looking through all my clients & deciding who needs a nudge, sth useful, or just space. 1 old tip of mine got a client 46 sign-ups for her event. On our group call, she told me, "Remember a long time ago you told me, please do your events." (ya, old tips count too haha) I still do my own events too, & just last month I had my biggest turnout ever. She also wanted to practise her sales script, & since we'd already worked out her flow together, I told her, your flow is ok, just go role play the hell out of it. Then she asked about the hook for her booth. I told her the brochure is NOT there to teach ppl. It's there to make them curious enough to scan the QR code. If I say "I'll tell you the updated definition of sales & marketing", most ppl won't care. 1 of my mentors got a $20,000 client by talking about chickens. All he did was share that he wanted to raise chickens. Then someone said, "I also like to raise chickens, let's have a talk," & that person became the $20,000 client. 5 or 6 clients paid me last month, only 1 on the spot. The rest paid days, even weeks, after the call. I stopped pushing ppl to buy on the spot a while ago. If someone's a good fit, I still invite them to join on the first call. Now when someone says "let me think about it", I don't push. I tell them, "Yes, you should think about it, cuz I don't want you to make impulse decisions." (ppl who buy on impulse are never happy ya) Then I suggest a tentative date for a second call in the next 2 weeks. On that second call I just say, "If you wanna join, amazing, if not, no problem at all." Usually they decide before that date even comes. That's how I sold all my higher-ticket stuff last month. And most of them even chose to pay in full. A brand-new financial planner signed 6 paying clients from about 15 calls. He's a client of mine who only became a licensed financial planner 2 months ago. Recently he told me the session we did on his sales calls was "quite good". (we joked about the "quite" haha) Then he asked how to get ppl to open up about their life before he plans their money. So I showed him how I'd say it on HIS calls. First I'd ask, "Is it okay if I give you some honest, direct feedback?" Then I'd tell them I'll go through the inner stuff before the numbers, cuz I believe that part matters more. And then I'd say what I see. Sth like, "I feel you're scared to talk to your wife about money, & that's why these decisions keep getting avoided." Then I asked him, how would I even know to say that? A monthly report got my friend a multi-millionaire client (after 1 year of silence). She sells property to very wealthy ppl. Every month she sends them a report, online & printed, with the property of the month, her forecast for the year & a few tips. (printed too ya, not just an email) For a year, maybe a year & a half, nobody replied. She kept sending it anyway. Then 1 multi-millionaire reached out & said, I want to buy or sell property, & I want you. She asked, how do you even know me? The buyer had been reading her reports for 1 or 2 years. Not every time, but enough to know she was "someone of substance", cuz she was consistent, predictable & she shared good stuff. I see the same thing in my own business. 5 minutes at my event booked her about 10 trial sessions. Last month at my KL gathering, I ran a business workshop. One of my private clients runs a health business there, & she offered her space for it. So I told her, take 5 minutes to do a quick sharing, & I'll coach you on how to do it. Slowing down on 1 sales call pushed me past S$80K. It was my last sales call of the month. My brain was going 24/7 with things to say. So I slowed down like mad & just listened. My main goal was to be damn valuable to them, whether they bought from me or not. Then I gave them feedback I don't think they'd heard before, esp. from someone who had only just met them. They said they'd talk it over first, & that night they bought. The next morning, someone else told me, "I don't think anybody knew. The fact you knew, that's what I buy." (yes the scripts & frames still matter ya, we all need to learn those) But these days the plan & strategy only take me 5 to 10 minutes on a call. In the first couple of calls I do with anyone, we go for the root cause first, whether it's a challenge or a resistance. A random 6am idea turned into my biggest event ever. One Monday I woke up at 6am & thought, let me just do an appreciation dinner for my clients, for fun. A week later, about 50 ppl were in the room. I barely pitched anything that night, & the dinner cost me more than it brought in. But I already know it's gonna help me in so many other ways. 1) It might help with renewals. 2) It gave me energy to keep moving. 3) The group photo is a nice credibility booster. 4) It reminded me of my mission again. I decided this one from how it felt, not from what made sense on paper. (not saying everything should be for fun forever k, I'd end up the fun guy with no money) On our group call that week, a client said the event she'd planned for fun had zero connection to her business. He closed the 2 hardest units of his year with 1 reframe (multiple 5 figures collected). He's a property agent, & he's been a client of mine since 2022. For weeks, both owners kept saying no, cuz they didn't want to sell lower. So he asked a mentor of his for help, & the tip was simple. Don't push the owners to drop their price. Show them that the home they want to buy next has dropped in price too, so they're not being shortchanged. (nobody wants to feel shortchanged ya) He went back, heard out their worries first, & then gave them the advice he really believed in. Both owners said yes over 1 weekend. When he told me on our weekly call, I said ppl won't just remember that he pushed through 2 hard units. They'll remember that he CARED about the humans behind them. (tbh about half of what we talk about these days isn't tactics at all) I also told him, first time cannot doesn't mean cannot. ✅ Ppl don't say no to the price, they say no to feeling shortchanged. One simple campaign took her to 6 figures in her first year. She teaches investing, & this was her first year in business. She sent a 3 to 5 minute form to ppl she already knew. About 200 filled it in, & about 150 said yes to a one-to-one call with her. She told me, "Marc, I'm crazy. I can't." So we put a workshop in front first, & invited ppl to the calls after. That 1 campaign carried her past 6 figures. It's the first thing I get about 80% of my clients to do when they join, & we've been improving that form for 5 years. → We NEVER say "pls do my survey". We lead with a gift, or "I'm working on something & I'd love your thoughts." (the gift doesn't even need to exist yet ya, you can send it once it's out) → The form asks what they're stuck on, so you know how to help before you even talk. → The offer is never a discount just cuz they're friends. I promoted a KL gathering for 4 days, and 30 people came. I was going up to KL for a lunch anyway, so I thought, why not meet my clients while I'm there? Then, since I'm there already, why not invite my past clients too? A lot of them said they'd come. So I sent it to my friends who live in KL as well, and they even paid to come. I'd planned for 20 people, and about 30 came, so on the day itself we moved to a bigger venue. A few people even booked a one-to-one call with me before they registered. I only promoted and invited for 4 days, not 4 weeks. I didn't have to force myself to DM anyone, cuz I was actually excited about it. ✅ These days, I'm noticing people really like a simple gathering. If you wanna try it, this is the order I went in: 1) Start with your current clients. 2) Then invite the people who worked with you before. 3) Then add friends who live nearby. Each of these groups already knows you, so nobody needs convincing to show up. A founder friend closed RM30,000 with 1 deck and no call. He told me this when we were catching up last week. A prospect asked if he does one-to-ones. Normally he'd book a call, but getting two busy people on a calendar takes days. So for the first time, he sent a deck instead. The next day, he followed up with something useful he'd spotted on the guy's website. The reply came straight back: "I'm all good with the details here. What's the next step?" (I literally said "boom" out loud) He offered monthly payments or 20% off for a lump sum, and the guy took it, so in his words, "straight away, a 30k deal." But when he first wrote the proposal, his number was RM60,000 for six months. Then he asked himself if he was really gonna charge 10k ringgit a month, and brought it down because he wanted the client. So the proposal went out at RM36,000, before the guy had said anything about price. Nobody pushed back on the price. The only person negotiating was him.
