My speech from Saturday’s protest against police corruption.

I love Australia. It is a feeling deep in my soul. Today I will walk barefoot on the Earth as a reminder to the ancestral roots of this country. I acknowledge the past. I celebrate our indigenous culture. I understand that there was heartache and pain, but I also know that I personally am not to blame for it. My First Nations brothers and sisters do not blame me either. This particular date was not when that bloodshed happened. My strong belief is that we must acknowledge our true history, but we must also move forward together without division to forge a beautiful future in unity. We have the opportunity to make our country greater than ever before together. Let’s embrace what makes us uniquely Australian. Let’s be larrikins. Let’s laugh together. Let’s get out on the land and get educated on how to live a beautiful, simple life. Let’s end racism by embracing our true culture. I’m a proud Australian that doesn’t blame my past trauma on those surrounding me with love today. I love you all. I love Australia.
