🔴 Question:
Assalāmu alaykum wa raḥmatu Llāhi wa barakātuh,
How to respond to this doubt and combine between these two statements: our mother Ãishah -may Allāh be pleased with her- used to teach the Saḥābah from behind a curtain. And, a woman should preserve her voice in the presence of men?
🔵 Answer:
Wa alaykumu salām wa raḥmatu Llāhi wa barakātuh,
If a woman reaches the level of Ãishah in several things:
1- Her status among Muslims as The Mother of the Believers.
2- Firmly rooted in knowledge.
3- To know the details of the Prophet's life ﷺ inside his house.
4- The command of Allāh subh'ānahu wa ta'āla to convey the knowledge she has of the Sunnah: {And remember what is recited in your houses of the verses of Allah and wisdom} [33:34]
At that level, a woman is allowed to answer those who ask her about Islamic rulings, the way our mother Ãishah used to answer, which is limited in form of a question and answer, from behind a curtain, e.g:
They asked her about the character of the Prophet ﷺ.
She answered: “His character was the Qur'ān”.
Few words that you can count on one hand.

{And [they are] those who do not testify to falsehood and when they pass near ill speech they pass by with dignity}
[25:72]
Reported from Ibn Abbās -may Allāh be pleased with them-, Daḥāk, Mujāhid, and Ar-rabī' Ibn Anas that they said:
“Falsehood (in this verse) is the polytheists holy days”. (1)
Umar Ibn Al Khatāb -may Allāh be pleased with him- said:
“Avoid the enemies of Allāh during their festivals” (2)
It is upon us, the Ummah (nation) of Muhammad ﷺ, to contradict them.
▪️To anyone whose heart is doubtful about the forbiddance, and justifies his innovation of following the polytheists, Adhahabī -may Allāh have mercy upon him- answer that and said:
If someone said: I do not intend to follow them (the polytheists)?
The reply would be:
Accepting and participating in their festivals is forbidden, as it is reported in the authentic ḥadeeth that the Prophet ﷺ prohibited prayer during sunrise and sunset, and said:
«It rises between the horns of the devil, at that time disbelievers prostrate to it».
Whoever prays (at that time) doesn't necessarily intend to prostrate to the sun, because having that intention makes the person a disbeliever. However, the compatibility in the deed in the same time (with the disbelievers) is in itself forbidden” (3)
