Use Pendrive As RAM.....
Hi,
Your questions deserve a good answer, trust me I speak both from experience as well as knowledge..
Most of the users in Quora only speaks what they get or found on the internet, they never try those things to see if it actually works or even if they try will focus on the primary subjects which wont give a proper bench marking test.
Well, wont be saying much its time to answer the real question..
Q: can i use USB pen drive as a RAM stick ?
If we look into the characteristics of ram and how it works, the simple answer will be NO; you cant use it as a ram.
Oke, What is ready boost ? we have something in Microsoft windows systems knows as ready boost it also says that we can use the USB thumb drive as RAM ?
Well its kind of true but wont help much to boost the system, let me dive a little deeper into the topic.
RAM which contains data or binary bits non compressed on the memory for execution of the program or to help a program run smoothly..
Why RAM ? we can use hard disk ..
RAM is ultra fast memory module which can feed the programs the required data simultaneously without doing extra delay or proper word we call LATENCY, if we use HDD for the same process the PC will die soon.. RAM looks like simple NAND falsh chips soldered onto the Board but they are incredibly fast as GBPS..
Well if I have a SSD? It will be much easier to tackle those issues ?
Hold on boy!! SSD's ? They are still in 90s if you compare them with the speed of ram, the SSD speeds comes in GBPS as M2, and the performance gets divided into 2 if there is both the process happening (READ and WRITE) and the IO process stars to delay much more finally the latency increases and the program will run slow again(I mean DAAAAM SLOW).
RAM the latency is much more optimized, even if there are 100s programs keep doing R/W operation it will maintain the performance hence it cost you more per GB as compared to SSD.
In modern days we been facing issues like what if the RAM gets full ? what will happen ?
Developers came up with new ideas to shift the unused data but still needed on some process will be shifted to the secondary storage making space for newly added application to take the stake. In Linux its called SWAP partition and in Windows its called Page files.
Now I can conclude the answer, the ready boost will do nothing but make the USB drive and use it as the PAGE file.. Well it will reduce the load on the HDD and the ram will be free a little but you wont be noticing big difference.
USB are slow like from stone age if you compare it to a ram so random data shift at lightning fast wont be possible here,Even if we consider to do the setup but in some cases it helps hence it is not much popular.
If you ask me whats the best way to increase primary memory ? I will suggest you to buy some new RAM sticks else it will all be like a arrow in the dark…
Cheers!!

What should I never do with my computer?
Never delete System32 (or equivalent system files)
Never let it get too dusty or dirty, dust can actually CONDUCT electricity and short circuit your computer!
Use a Surge Protector - it doesn’t matter until it really matters.
You should probably install to keep those eyes nice and healthy when you’re using it at night.
Keep that keyboard clean!
I had a friend who sneezed and kicked over his computer - BAM! Blue screen. The hard drive died instantly.
Don’t store your passwords online (without encryption of course)! You’re better off writing it down on paper.
