The JFK Assassination Chokeholds That Inescapably Prove There Was a Conspiracy By Edward Curtin EdwardCurtin.com May 11, 2024 During my many years of teaching at different universities, nearly all my colleagues insisted that Lee Harvey Oswald alone assassinated President Kennedy, even while the general public questioned such a conclusion. This disparity between gown and town always amused and informed me that something in the “higher education” world was low indeed. Despite the fact that we agreed on many political matters, my academic colleagues laughed at all my writing and courses that presented overwhelming evidence that there was a conspiracy to kill JFK, led by the Central Intelligence Agency. They reveled in their certitude, good humored as it was, but refused to research the matter. They were smug. Here is an excellent book that, if they would read it with open minds, would, as its subtitle says – inescapably prove that there was a conspiracy – and if Jack Ruby had not killed Oswald and he had been given a fair trial, Oswald would have been acquitted. Written by James DiEugenio, Paul Bleau, Matt Crumpton, Andrew Iler, and Mark Adamczyk, The JFK Assassination Chokeholds lives up to its claim and then some. For most readers of the general public, the amount of information it contains that proves the official version of the assassination is clearly false may be overwhelming, but for anyone with any scholarly pretensions or who has a particular interest in the JFK assassination, this book is essential. It will last a long time as a key historical document. For the general reader, one or two chapters should suffice to convince them that the authors have emphatically proven their points. And to grasp these points and fully realize that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated by elements of his own government led by the CIA and that the mass media were accessories after the fact to this terrible crime – to let this really sink in – well, nothing is more important in understanding what is going on today. https://www.lewrockwell.com/2024/05/edward-curtin/the-jfk-assassination-chokeholds-that-inescapably-prove-there-was-a-conspiracy/

Even If You Support Police, Don't Ban People From Recording Them Police, questioned over tactics and culturally besieged not too long ago, find themselves with renewed cachet amidst concerns over crime and campus chaos. That means leverage to win themselves leeway in how they go about their jobs—pushing, for instance, laws that restrict the public's right to record cops making arrests, with Florida the latest jurisdiction to enact such a bill. That pleases fans of law enforcement, but it reduces accountability for an armed and often abusive arm of government. https://reason.com/2024/05/06/even-if-you-support-police-dont-ban-people-from-recording-them/

Even If You Support Police, Don't Ban People From Recording Them

Filming cops is a First Amendment right, and there are already plenty of laws against harassing them.

Beware of the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act By Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr. May 13, 2024 The House of Representatives passed the “Anti-Semitism Awareness Act” on May 2, by a vote of 320-91 in reaction to demonstrations on numerous university campuses and elsewhere against the brutal and genocidal policy of Israel in Gaza. The Act has now been sent to the Senate, where it seems certain to pass. This is an extremely dangerous bill that could criminalize the Bible, many Christian Churches, as well as any negative remarks about Israel and Jews. In brief, it threatens us with totalitarian thought control. We must do everything we can to oppose it. First, let’s take an overview of the Act. It adopts the very broad definition of anti-Semitism of the “International Holocaust Remembrance Association.” The Act calls this definition “a vital tool which helps individuals understand and identify the various manifestations of antisemitism.” What does this definition say? “Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed in hatred of Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of anti-Semitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.” How you can be anti-Semitic toward someone who isn’t Jewish isn’t immediately apparent. The authors of the definition give someone examples of what they consider anti-Semitic. These include saying that the Jews control the media and Congress, saying that Israel is a racist state, propagating the “blood libel” that the Jews killed Jesus, minimizing or denying the Holocaust, and claiming that Jews in America have “dual loyalty.” As a number of writers including Tucker Carlson and John Zmirak have pointed out, the definition allows large parts of the Bible to be banned. The most famous such passage is Matthew 27: 25. “His blood be upon us and our children.” This is the “blood libel” that the Act wouldn’t let us teach! https://www.lewrockwell.com/2024/05/lew-rockwell/beware-of-the-anti-semitism-awareness-act/

Student protest and counter-subversion: The lessons of Operation CHAOS ‘When officials exaggerate the efficacy and impact of foreign influence operations, the ones who benefit the most are the very regimes that produce it.’1 That is the warning delivered by a group of academic experts on covert action in Foreign Affairs on Friday. They highlighted recent examples from both sides of the US political system, but one in particular has a strong historical resonance. https://intelligencehistory.substack.com/p/student-protest-and-counter-subversion

Trail of Destruction, Pt. 10: CIA Orders Incineration of Assassination Specialist’s Operational Diaries and Notes Among the CIA’s original top-ranking officers, probably none generates more suspicion of involvement in — or foreknowledge of — President John F. Kennedy’s murder than William King Harvey. The Assassination Records Review Board (ARRB), established to declassify JFK files in the 1990s, looked for records of Harvey’s operations but could not find any. https://jfkfacts.substack.com/p/trail-of-destruction-cia-orders-incineration

Communication About Freedom - Robert LeFevre “There are so many things going on and we are often not prepared to deal with them. And so we look around us with apprehension, wondering if we are really going to be able to face up to the opportunities and the problems that we have. Seattle’s Law Mandating Higher Pay for Food Delivery Workers Is a Case Study in Backfire Economics For years, Gary Lardizabal made a living delivering food in the Seattle metro. But he says a new ordinance that went into effect in January is putting his livelihood at risk. The law, which was designed to increase pay for food delivery drivers, has resulted in a collapse of food orders. “I can’t pay rent. [Orders are] down 30 to 40%,” Lardizabal told a local radio station. “This is not a living wage; this is a dying wage.” The legislation Lardizabal was referring to is PayUp, a 2022 law passed unanimously by the Seattle City Council that was intended to guarantee app-based drivers a “living wage” by mandating that drivers earn 74 cents per mile traveled and 44 cents per minute, or a minimum of $5 an order. Unfortunately, but perhaps predictably, the law has been accompanied by severe unintended consequences. Though the law raised the minimum wage of delivery workers to about $26 an hour (not counting tips), delivery services such as DoorDash and Uber Eats responded by increasing prices; a $5 fee was added to all orders placed through the apps. The result was an estimated 300,000 fewer orders, according to DoorDash, which led to $7 million in lost revenue for area businesses, not to mention lost income for drivers. “It’s painfully clear from listening to Dashers, merchants and consumers that this new law simply isn’t working,” DoorDash said in a statement reported by Fox 13. Some skeptical council members are demanding to see DoorDash’s data. But the company’s metrics aren’t the only evidence that exists. Fortune recently profiled Tony Illes, a 30-year-old food delivery driver who apparently was crushing it — 10,000 deliveries over the last four years, by his count — until the wage law went into effect. That’s when business dried up, and Illes found himself waiting for five or six hours for just one Uber Eats request. https://fee.org/articles/seattles-law-mandating-higher-pay-for-food-delivery-workers-is-a-case-study-in-backfire-economics/
