#ZahaHadid #architects ME Dubai hotel at the Opus receives 2020 Legend Award from @DeparturesMag in their list of the world’s most stunning new buildings. Located in the Burj Khalifa district adjacent to Downtown Dubai and Business Bay on the Dubai Water Canal, the Opus by #ZahaHadid Architects for @OmniyatOfficial explores the balance between solid and void, opaque and transparent, interior and exterior. Designed as two separate towers that coalesce into a singular whole, the Opus takes the form of a cube. The cube has been ‘eroded’ in its centre, creating a free-form void that is an important volume of the design in its own right. #parametric #Architecture Alder Hey Children’s Hospital is one of Europe’s busiest children hospital requested a feedback hub to collect data from staff and visitors to further improve the hospital’s facilities; in response to the brief, WMB Studio designed the Vox Pod that is adaptable and flexible. The structure is inspired by a radiused and extruded equilateral triangle, divided into three equal modules. The pod’s segments enables ease of movement and reconstruction of individual segments; either as a connected pair or as a complete confined capsule. In addition, the capsule also serves as a mini-meeting room and informal conversation space. Acoustic foam is used as a unique functional, eloquent skin on the exterior; while internally birch ply is seen combined with warm tones of fabrics to offer a comfortable and relaxing space. Inspired by Asian paddy field terraces, the Green Heart reflects the diversity of tropical flora and creates a new habitat for over 350 plant and even some animal species.
