They have to sell US treasuries to get USD to buy Yen to strengthen the yen. Selling those treasuries will trigger margin calls.

We've been tracking japan for a while now and it's pretty satisfying to see this situation clearly escalating now, as it's a clear huge marker that the riddlers have given. It's now for sure started and now it's just a matter of long does it take to unfold. Days? Weeks? Into the summer? Tough to say. I'm a newbie to all this. I'm just happy it's started.
