"I BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE WHO WORK ON COMPUTERS ACHIEVE MORE THAN THOSE WHO DONT" Chioma Ifeanyi-Eze
Even if you are frying akara
Even if you are selling palmoil
Even if you are washing cars
Whatever it is that you are doing in this life to earn money, if you are able to work on a computer, you will achieve more.
How?
This makes no sense, right?
What has computers got to do with frying akara, selling palmoil and washing cars?
Let me explain by describing the life of two small-business CEOs who both started out frying akara.
Nkechi and Oluchi are childhood friends who grew up in the same neighborhood. Oluchi's mum was a known akara seller. She used the money from akara to raise her children after her husband passed. Nkechi learnt akara from Oluchi's mum because she was always coming over to help.
After graduation, when lack of job wanted to strike, they both decided to start frying akara in the cities where they lived.
Oluchi is a techy who spends time on her computer. Nkechi has never touched a computer, except to watch movies.
Oluchi used a spreadsheet to plan all her initial startup costs, including revenue and cost projections.
She uploaded it into an AI tool which helped her write a mini business plan.
She emailed that mini business plan to a few senior relatives who loved her level of organization and contributed seed capital for her.
On her computer, she setup a retail tool that allowed her track every sale on her phone. As customers buy, she punches in every sale in a few seconds.
That tool handles her daily sales, daily costs, and daily profits. She tracked her numbers and growth from Day 1.
As a techy, Oluchi was applying to competitions for women running small businesses. She got into Access Bank competition and got trained at a prestigious Business School.
She met amazing people, got invited to fry akara at premium events, learnt to make amazing pitch decks and present before investors.
By this time, she already had a team of 4 working fulltime while she applies to events, opportunities, pitches and more. She was also running a fast-growing akara breakfast kitchen that was trending online.
Then came a big political event. She was to fry akara and pap for 4 days for over 2000 people. It was a contact she met at Orange Events, one of the tech opportunities she applied to as a techy woman.
I can go on and on and on.
But by now, we all agree with me that a woman who sits in front of a computer screen to run whatever business has far more structure and opportunities than a woman who is totally non-digital.
Please, if you are a woman and you are following me and you know you are non-techy and non-digital because you dont work on a computer, hurry into Data-Entry Academy Batch 20 let me tranform your life.
Listen, it doesnt matter that you dont have a laptop now. Most of the tools I teach are cloud-based and you can access them from mobile devices, while you work on getting a laptop.
Just get into the Academy and become a digital woman.
Look at all the women in business you admire, they work on computers.
Augusta sells parfait, but spends her day on a computer. Same as FunkyCollections and all the other women you admire.
Dont let lack of digital skills limit you. Your phone cannot do it all.
Your phone cannot conveniently work on a spreadsheet with 30 columns.
Your phone cannot conveniently design and make that winning pitch deck.
Your phone cannot make 50 invoices in one hour and send out.
Your phone cannot work on that operations management system with many modules.
But your phone is a good starting point to learn digital tools and skills; then you can grow from there.
Whatever you are doing in this world of today and you dont know how to work on a computer, you are short-changing yourself.
