Whitelaw News: Deported and detained but the show carry’s on! This week we traveled to Athens in Greece in two separate partys. Paul Whitelaws guitarist and myself traveled together and Steve Whitelaws bassist and Drummer Baz traveled together. On arrival in Athens paul and i went to the passport check as normal and then we were stopped and taken to the boarder control office. There we were told that we were being denied access to Greece as there was a mandate from Germany which prevented us from entering any country that was a member state of the European Union. This is because we are not in the modern way thinking of European diversity which is now an official mandate of Europe. Being pushed by every member of the European Union. We were told we were going to be deported and sent back on the same aeroplane we had arrived on. The undercover police took us to a car drove us the aeroplane then at the last minute changed course and took us through barriers to the airport immigration detention centre. After being searched we were put in a block were every type of illegal immigrant was housed. Bangladeshi’s, Pakistani’s, Syrian’s, Albanian’s, Moroccan’s all in separate gangs. We we’re shown a dorm to go into and pretty much left alone housed with the lesser inmates from Bangladesh and Pakistan. The guards wanted money off us for food and water but we kicked off about it and reminded them that we were neither crimnals nor immigrants and demanded food and to be told what they had intended for us. Eventually they told us that we would be deported the next day. After spending hours in the stinking Immigration detention centre with people who have nothing in common with us. We eventually got taken back to the main airport hub and taken by armed guard to our flight back to England. While in the immigration detention centre, we noticed various things. While we had to beg for food and water the immigrants where given bottles of Coke Cola, chocolate milk, fruit, Cigarettes, fresh sandwiches, Crisps and chocolate. It was obvious to us that we were deemed lower than the immigrants and there was a budget for them and not us because we were White. The habbits of the immigrants aswell were totally disgusting a two year old child from England has more respect than these animals had. We were lucky in one respect though as Paul had his phone with him and was able to make contact with a few people to let them know what was happening. We also took a few pictures. The best news recieved was that our brother’s Baz and Steve were in the country and weren’t going to let the Greeks down, the show must go on. So with some other musicians they assembled a band together and Whitelaw did play. Just with a new Benny and Paul. So top marks to all of you and respect to everyone who has sent encouraging words to us since. We would like to thank all our Greek comrades who went to alot of trouble to make sure things ran smoothly. They have our respect and gratitude especially how they made an amazing birthday cake for Baz. The footnote to all of this is we knew there was s risk that we may be on this banned list for the whole of Europe. The first thing Paul said to me is we obviously are doing something right and they are frightened of us, if they feel the need to ban us from Europe because we sing and play songs about their corruption and deceitful lies. He then said we will just have to adapt and do things a different way. There is always another way round things and both agreed that we will never be silenced and definitely this is not the end of Whitelaw. One thought about all of this.
