The Bible describes her as a harlot living on the city wall. The city wall must have been a good place for business; she could easily target travellers for her trade. Also, living on the city wall meant she had access to information more quickly than those living in the city. This woman had heard of the mighty deeds of the God of Israel and her response was faith in Him. While the king of Jericho and his advisers were looking for ways to arrest the situation of the Israelites, she knew they were fighting a lost cause. She knew that the God who could part the Red Sea would not have any trouble penetrating the city wall of Jericho. Hebrews 11 tells us that Rahab hid those spies by faith. From her, we learn brazen faith, faith that is unafraid. She risked her life for what she believed to be the truth. She could have been killed for treason because she was protecting the enemies of the state. But she knew better; she knew that Yahweh was more powerful than the state. Despite her flawed lifestyle, she was willing to submit to the God of Israel. God did not reject her because she was unclean; He accepted her and made her part of His people. She also dragged her entire family with her. In the same vein, God will not reject anyone who is willing to forsake his or her old lifestyle and accept His free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ (John 6:37). Rahab, according to James 2:25, proved her faith by her works. Hiding the spies and making an agreement with them was proof of her faith. What are you doing to prove your faith in Jesus Christ? Learn from Rahab today. Protect the servants of God; there are blessings attached. In the end, Rahab's faith paid off. EXPOSITION Promotion and upliftment in our careers, studies, businesses, etc are two sided. There is the role of God which is fundamental. The Psalmist describes it this way: _This I Know: the favor that brings promotion and power doesn't come from anywhere on earth, for no one exalts a person but God, the true judge of all_ (Ps. 75:6 TPT). However, there is also the role of the person in consideration for promotion. Nowadays, we invest so much prayers without taking to consideration, our own input. Some other translations render our text thus: _Do you see any truly competent workers?_ (NLT) Observe people who are good at their work -- skilled workers are always in demand and admired..._ (TM), _Do you see a person who is efficient in his work?_ (GW) _Have you seen a man who is expert in his business?_ (BBE). Beloved, standing before kings is not for the mediocre. You cannot pray for divine upliftment while remaining indolent and lazy. EXPOSITION Literacy, in its truest sense, extends beyond the ability to read and write; it is the gateway to wisdom, understanding and purposeful living. On this International Literacy Day. We are reminded of the transformative power of knowledge, particularly in shaping people for excellence. Proverbs 22: 6 underscores the necessity of intentional training, for no one rises above the foundation laid for them. Jesus exemplified the principle of mentorship, investing time and wisdom in His disciples before commissioning them for ministry (Matt. 28:19-20). Paul followed this same model, instructing Timothy to raise capable leaders who would teach others (2 Tim. 2:2). Without structured guidance, persons flounder, and expectations become unreasonable. True excellence is cultivated; it does not emerge by chance. In ministry, leadership, and family, training is a sacred duty. It strengthens character, sharpens skills, and prepares people to navigate life's challenges with wisdom and faith. Neglecting this responsibility breeds frustration and failure, while intentional investment in others fosters growth and continuity. Today, let us recommit to nurturing minds, imparting truth, and raising godly, competent people who will, in turn, uplift others. PRAYER POINTS 1. He was his mother's firstborn and his father's favourite, Unfortunately, his brothers were envious of him. His father displayed favouritism by making him a coat of many colours. Despite his father's love for him, Joseph had to undertake his own journey of faith. He must have known and learnt about his father's God but his belief in that God was going to be tested. He was thrown into the pit by his brothers, then, sold into slavery. He came to Potiphar's house where he was falsely accused by Potiphar's wife. He landed in prison. It is noteworthy that Joseph stuck with God through this entire process. Just like his fathers before him, his faith was being tested and it was crucial for him to come out strong. Even so, as contemporary Christian, your faith will be tried. You may not be sold into slavery or thrown into prison like Joseph but you will always be tested with choices. You will always have to choose between good and evil; between steadfastness and compromise. I hope that, like Joseph, you will choose uprightness over worldly pleasure. Joseph had the gift of interpreting dreams. This gift eventually made room for him in the palace of Pharaoh. Your own gift too will make room for you in the palace but you need to be ready like Joseph was when his time came. Through his experiences, Joseph held on to the promise of God's generational blessing. His faith never wavered. After all his family had come to Egypt, he still knew for sure that God would yet give them the land of Canaan. He prophesied it from a place of deep conviction. He gave instructions that his bones should be taken to the promised land so that he would still be a partaker of God's promises even in death. Beloved, how strong is your faith? Will you give up at the slightest provocation or will you hold on to God's divine promises? Joseph's faith paid off because he saw the promised land even in death. If you also hold on to God, you will see the manifestation of His promises. 🙏 *ℙℝ𝔸𝕐𝔼ℝ ℙ𝕆𝕀ℕ𝕋𝕊:* 🌅 *𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆* 1. O Lord, deliver me from the pit and prison, in the name of Jesus. 2. [20]. And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” [21]. Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever! [22]. My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.” [23] Now the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he believed in his God. EXPOSITION There are many signs of spiritual maturity in a believer. Diligently studying God's Word, consistent prayer and fasting, regular meditation on His works, active participation in church activities and maintaining a holy, righteous life, all reflect a Christian's spiritual growth. Daniel was a shining example of unwavering prayer and obedience to God. Prayer wasn't just a means of communication with God for Daniel -- it was his lifestyle. He prayed three times daily, facing Jerusalem, even when it became the focus of his enemies' plots. His prayer life was the only area they could target, as it was both his strength and their threat. Your enemies will often attack your strengths, as your weaknesses are already under their control. Don't let them undermine the area that empowers you. Daniel understood this and remained steadfast, refusing to compromise or stop praying. His resilience was unwavering -- he maintained his discipline of praying three times a day, no matter the cost. Be like Daniel -- be a person of prayer. PRAYER POINTS 1. Lord Jesus, bless me with the spirit of fervent and spiritually wise prayer 2. Beloved Christian brother and sister, your marriage is an express image and reflection of the final marriage between Jesus Christ, the Groom, and the bride, the Church of Christ. It is therefore important that it correctly represents that picture. As the bride of Jesus, we cannot be careless and unconcerned with things that are kingdom principles. It is only a family that prays together that stays together. This unity cannot be achieved except by putting Jesus in the picture. The only way to do this is to make Him the Lord of your life and your home. His presence keeps away the intruder, the accuser and the destroyer. Like a spiritual fireman, you can fireproof your marriage. When the devil sees the fire of God envelop your marriage and family, he flees. In order to fireproof your marriage, certain steps must be taken. Both of you must be genuinely born again, each person having a stable relationship and deep intimacy with God. You must ensure that you are living a godly life worthy of emulation to your children, wards and others around you, so much that no negative thing can be said about your faith. Your godly character, conduct and conversation should be such that the devil will find no legal ground to accuse you before the Lord. As a result, your children will follow your steps doing what is right as they grow up (Proverbs 22:6). In addition, both of you must be intentional about praying together, fellowshipping together in the presence of God and constantly lifting up your marriage to God. When you are doing what is expected of you as a couple, God is faithful to fulfil His promise of protection over your marriage and family, and you will be divinely kept and preserved by God's power, in Jesus' name. 🙏 *ℙℝ𝔸𝕐𝔼ℝ ℙ𝕆𝕀ℕ𝕋𝕊:* 🌅 *𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆* 1. However, this is one of the most powerful ways of drawing closer to Him. Psalm 1:2-3 describe the blessed person as one who finds joy in God's Word and reflects on it day and night. This is more than casual reading, it is deep, intentional engagement with the Scripture. Meditation involves pondering on the meaning of God's Word, understanding its relevance to your life, and applying its truths. Note this: You can never be deeper than the level of your meditation! When we meditate on God's Word, it renews our minds, strengthens our spirits, and aligns our hearts with God's will. It equips us to face challenges with clarity and confidence because we are grounded in His promises and guidance. Take this opportunity to renew your commitment to God's Word. Set aside distractions and spend time reflecting on His promises. As you do, you will find joy, strength, and purpose in His presence. People sometimes assume that pastors live easy lives because of their closeness to God. However, they face life's struggles like everyone else, often carrying heavy burdens while attending to God's flock (Job 14:1). Their calling demands emotional strength and spiritual endurance, yet they rarely openly share their pain. We should understand and support the difficulties pastors encounter. Supporting your pastor is more than praying for them: it includes practical actions like offering financial help, supporting their children's education, or helping them to rest and grow. These acts of care ease their burdens and bring blessings to the giver (Gal. 6:8-10). Pastors are entrusted with guiding God's people daily, and their well-being impacts the congregation. If they falter, the Church may suffer (Mk. 14:27). Strengthening pastors ensures they can serve effectively and continue to lead with wisdom and truth. Even pastors need guidance from mentors and encouragement from their members. Supporting them not only helps them personally but also ensures the entire church grows in God's purpose. It would usually take a series of processes to produce wine. The final product would be new wine that is still fermenting. This wine needed to be stored in a new wineskin so that the wineskin would expand with the pressure of fermentation. If new wine wasn't stored in a new wineskin, the pressure from the fermentation would burst the old wineskin because it would no longer be able to expand. Then, both the wine and wineskin would be lost. Jesus came to lead people into a new form of worship; worship that is not rooted in legalism but in a genuine relationship with the Father. Jesus told the woman of Samaria that the true worshippers would worship the Father in Spirit and in truth (John 4:24). Before Jesus came, the law of Moses was in operation. The problem with the law was that it focused on outward performance rather than the heart. That was why God promised to give His people a new heart and a new spirit (Ezekiel 36:26-27). Jesus came to bridge the gap between God and men by tearing the veil into the Holiest place. Accepting Jesus means receiving new wine. New wine is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. However, if you choose to mix your Christianity with the rules of another religion, you are trying to pour new wine into an old wineskin. Practising Christianity without the Holy Spirit or trying to please God by works alone without faith, equates pouring new wine into an old wineskin. Both would be destroyed. Beloved, make up your mind today to serve the Lord wholeheartedly. The only way to God is Jesus Christ; adding anything else or trying to get to the Father through any other means is equal to putting new wine into an old wineskin. All will be lost.
