Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja, Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda. Guru Mahārāja continues to show gradual improvement in his overall sensorium and level of alertness. The medical team is encouraged by the progress he has been making and remains hopeful about his continued recovery. At the same time, we would like to emphasize that the journey toward a meaningful and sustained recovery remains a long one, and maintaining this positive trajectory without setbacks is extremely important. The doctors have indicated that, if Guru Mahārāja is able to maintain this level of improvement over the coming weeks without any significant setbacks, they are hopeful that within the next few weeks to a month he may make further significant progress toward being completely weaned from ventilatory support and, subsequently, having the tracheostomy removed. These are encouraging possibilities, but they will depend on his continued clinical stability and gradual progress. Guru Mahārāja has remained clinically stable and free from any significant signs of infection for almost three weeks. The medical team is gradually increasing the duration of his breaks from ventilatory support, allowing him progressively longer periods of independent breathing as tolerated. He continues to require dialysis on alternate days, which he has been tolerating well for the past several weeks. His vital signs have remained stable, and the wounds affecting his legs and toes are also showing signs of healing. As there is still a long journey ahead, we humbly request devotees to include the entire medical team and the caretakers in their prayers. Please pray that we may all be able to perform our humble roles properly as instruments in the hands of Lord Kṛṣṇa, with strength, clarity, patience, and dedication. Above all, we remain deeply conscious that, beyond all the medical care and efforts being made on the ground, the sincere prayers of devotees around the world are playing an invaluable role in supporting Guru Mahārāja through this difficult journey. Following the recent dip in Guru Mahārāja’s alertness and activity levels, we have been encouraged to see a gradual improvement since yesterday. By the mercy and blessings of Lord Kṛṣṇa on the auspicious occasion of Janmāṣṭamī, and today, on the sacred appearance day of our beloved Śrīla Prabhupāda, we are grateful to share the following positive developments. Guru Mahārāja has again been able to communicate, although only for brief periods. He has demonstrated several positive responses, including intermittently attempting to speak and giving a thumbs-up. For the first time in approximately one month, he also attempted to use the alphabet chart to communicate. Today marks the ninth consecutive day that he has remained on minimal ventilator support, with progressively longer periods off ventilatory support. He has also been gradually increasing the amount of chanting he performs using the clicker. His other health parameters have remained stable, and the infection-related parameters continue to be reassuring. Importantly, the various tests and cultures conducted to assess for a possible infection have all returned negative. In a particularly encouraging and spiritually meaningful development, small Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa Deities were brought into the ICU yesterday, allowing Guru Mahārāja to perform a simple abhiṣeka. Today, on the auspicious appearance day of Śrīla Prabhupāda, he also performed a simple abhiṣeka to the Deity of Śrīla Prabhupāda. These moments of devotional engagement have been deeply encouraging and uplifting for everyone caring for him. Overall, Guru Mahārāja is showing gradual improvement on multiple fronts. At this stage, maintaining his current stability and supporting this positive trajectory are particularly important. The next steps in his rehabilitation include strengthening his swallowing muscles, continuing speech and communication therapy, increasing mobilization and physiotherapy, and progressively working toward complete weaning from ventilatory support. The medical team will continue to closely monitor his condition and provide the necessary care and rehabilitation support to facilitate his ongoing recovery. For the past three days, including today, Guru Mahārāja’s alertness and energy levels have been lower than usual. Since last night, he has been experiencing continuous fever along with a stomach upset. Due to these challenges, we have not been able to do the rehabilitation and take him onto the wheelchair during this period. The doctors have started medication to help improve his strength and energy. At the same time, many of his other health parameters are showing signs of stabilization, which is encouraging. At present, the doctors suspect a mild infection and are awaiting the results of some important tests before determining the next steps in treatment. Their immediate focus is to stabilize these current issues and, once this is achieved, help Guru Mahārāja return to the path of rehabilitation. As we prepare to celebrate the auspicious appearance day of Lord Kṛṣṇa tomorrow, Janmāṣṭamī, We humbly request all devotees to intensify their prayers for Guru Mahārāja at this time. By the mercy of Śrī Śrī Rādhā Mādhava, Śrī Pañca-tattva, Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva, Śrīla Prabhupāda, and the sincere prayers of devotees around the world, we continue to remain hopeful and grateful for every positive step in Guru Mahārāja’s recovery. Guru Mahārāja had another episode of fever this morning. Thankfully, the fever subsided within a couple of hours. In view of the recurrent episodes of fever and some of the other ongoing concerns, the doctors undertook further investigations today. Fluid was collected from around the lungs for testing, and a biopsy was also taken from the ear to assess the status of the skin cancer for which Guru Mahārāja underwent surgery approximately three months ago while he was in the USA. These investigations will help the medical team better understand the possible underlying causes of the recurrent fever and guide further treatment. Due to these procedures and investigations, Guru Mahārāja could not be mobilized out of bed today. However, he has continued to remain on minimal ventilator support for the past six days, which is encouraging. His respiratory condition continues to be closely monitored by the medical team. Yesterday, Guru Mahārāja was mobilized onto the wheelchair twice. On one of these occasions, he was taken outside the hospital for a brief period at an appropriate time, allowing him to get some fresh air and gentle sunlight. These periods of mobilization and activity remain an important part of his ongoing rehabilitation. His alertness and attentiveness are also gradually improving, and we remain grateful for these small but meaningful signs of progress.
