Jinka University Hosts a Consultative Workshop on Omo-Turkana Research Station Establishment. May 12, 2026 Jinka University has conducted a high-level consultative workshop to discuss on the establishment of Omo-Turkana Research Station in Omorate, Dasenech Woreda. The event brought together different government officials, academicians, researchers, and representatives from partner institutions. The workshop represents an important step toward strengthening scientific research and promoting sustainable development in the Omo-Turkana Basin which is an area that widely recognized for its global scientific significance and socioeconomic value. In the opening session of the workshop, Dr. Tesfaye Alemu, Vice President for Academic, Research, Technology Transfer and Community Services, emphasized that the gathering comes at a critical moment requiring “collective vision, informed dialogue, and coordinated action" to ensure effective monitoring and management of the basin. Participants included key federal institutions such as the Ministry of Water and Energy, the Ministry of Irrigation and Lowlands, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research, the Environmental Protection Authority, the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute, and Ethiopian Electric Power. Their participation highlighted the national importance of the initiative. International partners also took part in the discussions, including the African Center for Aquatic Research and Education (ACARE), expressing their commitment to supporting capacity development and contributing to the implementation of proposed projects. The proposed research station, to be led by Jinka University, is envisioned as a center of excellence that will enhance research capacity, promote interdisciplinary and cross-border collaboration, and support evidence-based development initiatives across the basin. During the discussion sessions, participants noted that despite its global importance, the Omo-Turkana Basin continues to face challenges due to limited institutional presence and fragmented research efforts. The workshop therefore focused on building a shared vision, defining stakeholder roles and responsibilities, and strengthening partnerships to ensure coordinated action. Finally the participants also expressed their strong support for the initiative, and they emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration to ensure the successful establishment and operation of the research station. ጂንካ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የኦሞ-ቱርካና የምርምር ማዕከል ለማቋቋም የባለድርሻ አካላት የምክክር መድረክ አካሄደ። ግንቦት 4/2018ዓ.ም ጂንካ ዩኒቨርሲቲ በዳሰነች ወረዳ ኦሞራቴ ከተማ ሊቋቋም የታሰበውን የኦሞ-ቱርካና የምርምር ማዕከል በተመለከተ ከተለያዩ አለምአቀፍና ሀገርአቀፍ ባለድርሻ አካላት በተገኙበት የጋራ የምክክር መድረክ አካሂዷል። በምክክር መድረኩ በርካታ የመንግስት ተቋማት ተወካዮች፣ ተመራማሪዎች እና የተለያዩ ዓለምአቀፍ አጋር ተቋማት የተገኙ ሲሆን በኦሞ-ቱርካና ማዕቀፍ ውስጥ የምርምር አቅምን ለማጠናከር እና ዘላቂ ልማትን ለማስፋፋት ያለመ የምክክር መድረክ መሆኑንም የዩኒቨርሲቲው የአካዳሚክ ምርምር ቴክኖሎጂ ሽግግርና ማህበረሰብ አገልግሎት ም/ፕሬዚዳንት ዶ/ር ተስፋዬ አለሙ በመክፈቻ ንግግራቸው ገልፀዋል። በመድረኩ ከፌዴራል ተቋማት የውሃና ኢነርጂ ሚኒስቴር፣ የግብርና ሚኒስቴር፣ የኢትዮጵያ የግብርና ምርምር ኢንስቲትዩት፣ የአካባቢ ጥበቃ ባለስልጣን፣ የብዝሃ ሕይወት ኢንስቲትዩት እና የኢትዮጵያ ኤሌክትሪክ ኃይል ተቋም ሃላፊዎች የተሳተፉ ሲሆን ከዓለም አቀፍ አጋር ተቋማት ደግሞ የአፍሪካ የውሃ ምርምርና ትምህርት ማዕከል (ACARE) በአቅም ግንባታ እና በታቀደው ፕሮጀክት አፈፃፀም ዙሪያ ድጋፍ እንደሚያደርጉ ገልጸዋል። ተሳታፊዎቹ ለዚህ ፕሮጀክት መሳካት ያላቸውን ጠንካራ ድጋፍ ገልጸው የምርምር ማዕከሉ በተሳካ ሁኔታ እንዲመሰረትና ለተግባራዊነቱ ቀጣይነት ያለው ትብብር እንደሚያደርጉ ቃል ገብተዋል።

የጂንካ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የሴኔት አባላት የተሻሻለውን የሴኔት ሌጅስሌሽንና በአዲስ መልክ የተዘጋጀውን የፕሮጀክት በጀት አስተዳደር መመሪያ አፀደቁ። ሚያዚያ 16/2018 ዓ/ም የጂንካ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የሴኔት አባላት የተሻሻለውን የሴኔት ሌጅስሌሽንና በአዲስ መልክ የተዘጋጀውን የፕሮጀክት በጀት አስተዳደር (Grant Budget Management) መመሪያ አፅድቀዋል። የሴኔት ሌጅስሌሽኑና የፕሮጀክት በጀት አስተዳደር መመሪያው በዋናነት የዩኒቨርሲቲውን የአካዳሚክ አስተዳደር ሂደት ለማጠናከር፣ የምርምርና የፕሮጀክት በጀቶችን በግልፅነትና በተገቢነት ለማስተዳደር እንዲሁም የተቋሙን አጠቃላይ አፈጻጸም ለማሻሻል ታሳቢ በማድረግ የተዘጋጁ መሆኑን የተገለፀ ሲሆን የዩኒቨርሲቲው ፕሬዚዳንት ዶ/ር ዮሐንስ ይትባረክ ዩኒቨርሲቲው ወደ ልየታ (Differentiation) እያመራ እና የትኩረት መስኮችን መሠረት በማድረግ ተግባራትን እያከናወነ በመሆኑ በተለይም የተሻሻለው የሴኔት ሌጀስሌሽን ለዚህ ልየታ ሂደት ወሳኝ ሚና እንደሚኖረው ገልፀዋል። የሴኔት አባላቱ የተለያዩ ሀሳብና አስተያየቶች አንስተው የተሻሻለው የሴኔት ሌጅስሌሽኑና በፕሮጀክት በጀት አስተዳደር (Grant Budget Management) መመሪያውን በማፅደቅ ስብሰባው ተጠናቋል።

Jinka University Holds Annual Research Validation Workshop. 8th of April 2026 Jinka University conducted its Annual Research Validation Workshop to bring together academic staff, stakeholders from Ari and South Omo Zones, and researchers to present and validate their ongoing research projects. The workshop was began with a welcome speech by Dr. Tesfaye Alemu, Vice President for Academic, Research, Technology Transfer, and Community Service. Dr. Tesfaye emphasized the significance of research validation in enhancing academic quality and ensuring the relevance of research activities to community needs. The opening remark was delivered by Dr. Yohannes Yitbarek, President of the University who highlighted the vital role of research in institutional development and encouraged participants to actively engage in constructive discussions to improve the quality and impact of their work. The validation workshop provided a platform for scholarly exchange, strengthening research culture, and fostering collaboration among academic staff.

Jinka University Conducts Training on Academic Differentiation and Curriculum Revision. April 7/2026 Jinka University has conducted a training session focused on Differentiation, Academic Programs, and Curriculum Revision in alignment with the University’s strategic focus areas. The training, that was organized by the office of Academic Programs Directorate, was officially opened by Dr. Tesfaye Alemu, Vice President for Academic, Research, Technology Transfer, and Community Services. In his opening remarks, Dr. Tesfaye highlighted the significance of university differentiation, emphasizing the need for higher education institutions to align their academic programs with their unique potentials and local contexts. He also underscored that such alignment enhances institutional effectiveness and relevance. The training session was delivered by Dr. Eba Mijena, Executive Director of Academic Affairs in the Higher Education Development Sector at the Ministry of Education. His presentation provided in-depth insights into the principles and practices of academic differentiation and curriculum revision, particularly in relation to Jinka University’s focus areas. The training is expected to contribute significantly to the ongoing efforts of the University to improve academic quality, ensure relevance, and strengthen its institutional missions.

Jinka University holds a half-day Workshop on MIGRATURITY Project Sensitization. 16th of March 2026 Jinka University organized a half-day sensitization workshop on the MIGRATURITY Project, an international initiative implemented under the Erasmus program in collaboration with seven European Universities. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the project and strengthen institutional engagement in its implementation at Jinka University and it brought together deans, directors, and executives of the university to introduce the objectives of the MIGRATURITY Project and discuss the roles that different offices will play in supporting its successful implementation. The workshop was organized by the Office of Academic, Research, Technology Transfer and Community Service Vice President (ARTTCSVP). During the workshop, Dr. Tesfaye Alemu, Vice President for the Office of ARTTCS, provided an overview of the project’s goals, expected outcomes, and its broader significance as part of an international collaboration supported by the Erasmus program and implemented together with seven European Universities. The discussion also emphasized the importance of strong institutional cooperation to ensure the success and sustainability of the project. Participants actively engaged in the discussion by sharing ideas, raising questions, and reflecting on how their respective offices could contribute to the implementation of the project. The workshop concluded with participants expressing their commitment to supporting the successful implementation of the MIGRATURITY Project and recognizing the value of international partnerships in enhancing academic and institutional development at the University. ========================================================================== ጂንካ ዩኒቨርሲቲ "Sensitization Workshop on the MIGRATURITY Project" በሚል የግማሽ ቀን ወርክሾፕ አካሄደ። መጋቢት 7/2018ዓ ጂንካ ዩኒቨርሲቲና ሰባት የተለያዩ የአውሮፓ ዩኒቨርሲቲዎች የሚሳተፉበት በErasmus Program ስር የሚተገበር Migraturity የተሰኘ ፕሮጀክት ዙሪያ ግንዛቤ ለማስጨበጥ እና በጂንካ ዩኒቨርሲቲ በመተግበር ላይ የተቋማዊ ተሳትፎን ለማጠናከር ያለመ ስኬታማ አተገባበሩን ለመደገፍ ስለሚጫወቱት ሚና ለመወያየት የዩኒቨርሲቲውን ዲኖች፣ ዳይሬክተሮች እና አስፈፃሚዎችን ያካተተ ወርክሾፕ ተካሂዷል። Erasmus በአውሮፓ ህብረት ፕሮግራም ስር ትምህርትና ስልጠናዎችን፣ ወጣቶችንና ስፖርት ነክ የሆኑ ጉዳዮችን በአለምአቀፍ ደረጃ የሚደግፍ ፕሮግራም ሲሆን በቀጣይ ጂንካ ዩኒቨርሲቲን ጨምሮ ሰባት የአውሮፓ ዩኒቨርሲቲዎች የሚሳተፉበት ፕሮጀክት በዩኒቨርሲቲው የአካዳሚክ፣ ምርምር፣ የቴክኖሎጂ ሽግግር እና የማህበረሰብ አገልግሎት ምክትል ፕሬዝዳንት ጽ/ቤት ከተቋሙ የስራ ሀላፊዎች ጋር የጋራ ግንዛቤ ለመፍጠር ታስቦ ወርክሾፑ መዘጋጀቱን የአካዳሚክ ምርምር ቴክኖሎጂ ሽግግርና ማህበረሰብ አገልግሎት ም/ፕሬዚዳንቱ ዶ/ር ተስፋዬ አለሙ ገልፀዋል። በመድረኩ ስለሚተገበረው ዓለም አቀፍ ትብብር አካል በመሆን የፕሮጀክቱን ግቦች፣ የሚጠበቁ ውጤቶችን እና ጠቀሜታውን ጭምር ለተሳታፊዎቹ ቀርቧል። ተሳታፊዎቹ የMIGRATURITY ፕሮጀክትን በተሳካ ሁኔታ ተግባራዊ ለማድረግ እና በዩኒቨርሲቲው ውስጥ የአካዳሚክ እና የተቋማዊ ልማትን ለማሳደግ ዓለም አቀፍ አጋርነቶች የሚኖራቸው ሚና ከፍተኛ በመሆኑ ሁሉም ባለድርሻ አካል በቁርጠኝነት መስራት እንደሚገባው በመግባባት ወርክሾፑ ተጠናቋል።

ማስታወቂያ የቅድመ ምረቃ ትምህርት መውጫ ፈተና (Exit Exam) የካቲት 17/2018 ዓ/ም መሰጠት መጀመሩ ይታወቃል፡፡ ሆኖም ያልታሰበ የኃይል መቆራረጥ በማዕከል (በት/ሚኒስቴር ደረጃ) በማጋጠሙ ችግሩን በመፍታት እንደገና ለማስጀመር ጥረት የተደረገ ቢሆንም የፕሮግራም መዛባትን በማስከተሉ የፈተናውን ሙሉ ፕሮግራም በአንድ ቀን ማሸጋሸግ አስፈላጊ ሆኖ ተገኝቷል፡፡ ስለሆነም ሁሉም ፕሮግራሞች የዛሬን ጨምሮ ባሉበት ክፍለ ጊዜ ላይ ሆነው በተዋረድ በአንድ ቀን የተሸጋሸጉ መሆኑ ታውቆ ዛሬ ፈተና የጀመረችሁ ተፈታኞች እንደሙከራ ፈተና (Moc Exam) በመውሰድ ነገ በተመሳሳይ ሰዓት እንደገና የምትፈተኑ ይሆናል። የትምህርት ምዘናና ፈተናዎች አገልግሎት

Jinka University conducts a half day workshop on the Establishment of Botanical Garden. 3rd of February 2026 Jinka University conducted a half-day workshop on the establishment and management of Jinka University botanical garden. The workshop has been prepared to highlight the role of the botanical garden in supporting the university’s academic and research missions. Dr. Yohannes Yitbarek, President of the University, officially opened the program and his speech emphasized on the importance of establishing a botanical garden by noting that agriculture is one of the University’s centers of excellence. Dr. Feleke Woldeyes, former deputy director of the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute, delivered a presentation on the significance of botanical garden in preserving indigenous plant species as well as its value for advanced research, conservation efforts, and practical field-based learning for students. The discussion session was led by Professor Gebre Yintiso and Professor Felipe AixalaLet, who emphasized regarding the objectives and long-term purpose of the proposed botanical garden. University staff members actively participated in the discussion, raising questions and sharing insights related to the establishment and management of the garden.

ማስታወቂያ ለ2018 የትምህርት ዘመን አጋማሽ የመውጫ ፈተና (Exit Exam) ተፈታኞች በሙሉ የትምህርት ሚኒስቴር ባወጣው የጊዜ ሰለዳ መሰረት የ2018 ዓ/ም አጋማሽ የመውጫ ፈተና ከጥር 14 ጀምሮ እንደሚሰጥ የተገለጸ መሆኑ ይታወቃል። ነገር ግን ከፈተና ዝግጅት ስራዎች ጋር በተያያዘ ምክንያት የፈተናው ቀን የተራዘመ መሆኑን አውቃችሁ ቀኑ በሚመለከተው አካል እስከሚገለጽ ድረስ በትዕግስት እንድትጠባበቁ እናሳውቃለን።
