The Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God is a very appropriate way to begin a new year. The Church puts this celebration on the first day of the New Year to emphasize the importance of Mary’s role in the life of Christ and of the Church. Mary is Mother of the Church because she is our spiritual mother — and we are the Church.
Mary, our blessed Mother, through your maternal intercession, grant us wisdom and humility to be instruments of peace in the world. Amen.

Is your heart ready to welcome Jesus wholeheartedly? In this final week of advent, let us share Christ love with the less fortunate and marginalised.
(Light the four candles on the Advent wreath)
Let us pray - Loving God, thank you for your gift of love revealed to us through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Guide us in readying our hearts for the Lord's arrival by loving others just as Christ loves us. Amen.

Prepare your hearts for the coming of the King Day 6
Join us in reflecting on the antiphon, "O King of the Nations"
O King of the Gentiles, and the Desired of all,
You are the Cornerstone that binds two into one.
Come, and save man whom You fashioned out of clay.

Prepare your hearts for the coming of the King Day 5
Join us in reflecting on the antiphon, "O Rising Sun"
O Rising Sun, you are the splendour of eternal light and the sun of justice.
O come and enlighten those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death.
