In the invention of radio, it drastically expanded because of WW1, before it's was expensive and niche technology. In WW1 it was controlled by the military. After the war a broadcast network was set up with licensing. Many of the CEOs served in WW1. Television was expensive and niche in the 1920s and 30s. Then WW2 happened and the militaries were using it. After the war military leaders who used the technology went to lead the networks. The internet was military, they spread to the civilian government, then allowed for university research, then finally commercially available. Guarantee you the early people in the market had military connections. Politicians don't run the media in the west, the media is a military-deep state apparatus with the handlers working behind the scenes.

The big myth in democracies is that the media represents free enterprise, freedom and task whos goal is to keep government accountable? But accountable to who? They claim the public, but they are all corporations with their interests. When media was only newspapers in the 1800s there was little censorship. That freedom is projected onto radio, tv and internet. But what is the true history?
