Zoals je ziet zijn we niet echt weggeweest; de stilte op ons klokkenluiders kanaal hebben we zelf gedaan, uit stil protest tegen de Digital Services Act. Als een kanaal zoals het onze in opdracht van EU wordt uitgezet, kan niemand het meer vinden en zijn alle berichten voor altijd verloren! Overheidscensuur is ingrijpender dan wat wij met een plaatje kunnen voordoen. Wat we de afgelopen dagen wel 'kwijt' waren, zijn de kritische updates die de vrijwilligers van het kanaal met jullie delen. Ook waren we een plek kwijt om met elkaar daarover van gedachten te wisselen. Het spijt ons als je jezelf in de maling genomen voelt. Had jij het door en wil je er wat over zeggen tegen ons, besef dan: Ja! je had inderdaad gelijk, maar merk je ook hoe fijn het is dat je er nu iets over kunt zeggen? Wanneer de DSA ons kanaal echt raakt, heb je die mogelijkheid niet meer. Onze boodschap voor nu is dan ook: Heb je niets geleerd van de dissidenten die de mond zijn gesnoerd? De vrijheid van meningsuiting is de noodrem op wangedrag van overheden. Afschaffen van de vrijheid om overheidskritiek te kunnen uiten, is afschaffen van die noodrem. De afgelopen periode van stilte was onze noodkreet aan jullie en iedereen. Kom op tegen censuur, tegen machtsmisbruik van overheden! Het bericht van 25 augustus om 0:00 was een oefening om te zien of je wel bent voorbereidt als dit straks echt gebeurd. De vraag is niet of het gebeurd, maar wanneer. Wij gaan OOK door met @klokkenluiders2 en richten hier op het verbinden met elkaar. Op @klokkenluiders komt weer het nieuws zoals je gewend bent. Nogmaals onze oprechte excuses als je je in de maling genomen voelt! Er waren zeker leden die het doorhadden, of vragen bij hadden en hun best deden om de waarheid te achterhalen. Speciaal voor die mensen zeggen wij dan ook: Ja, je had gewoon gelijk! Maar wij wilden ons punt maken, zolang wij nog een stem hebben! Wij zijn benieuwd naar jullie ervaringen de afgelopen dagen en wat jullie hebben gedaan.

Ons klokkenluiders kanaal is sinds 25 augustus (de dag dat de Europese censuurwet Digital Services Act van kracht werd) op slot. We communiceren daarom via ons backup-kanaal. Dat is @klokkenluiders2 , gemaakt door dezelfde mensen achter klokkenluiders 1. Alle andere kanalen die ons zijn gaan nadoen zijn nep, kennelijk om verdeeldheid en verwarring te zaaien. Censuur is kennelijk niet het enige wapen in de strijd tegen de waarheid. Ons wapen is de waarheid, transparantie en nieuwberichten zoals je die afgelopen jaren ook van ons kreeg.
