We are thrilled to announce that several members of our Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development  (IEDC) have recently participated in the NINJA University Start-up Project. This prestigious program, presented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Ethiopian Ministry of Innovation and Technology, in collaboration with Pragma Investment Advisory, aims to nurture and support promising start-up ventures in Ethiopia. Our dedicated and talented team members Sami, Dani, Elisha, Mulatu, and Duress were selected to take part in this incredible project. They were chosen for their innovative ideas, entrepreneurial spirit, and potential for creating lasting impact in their respective domains. Participating in the NINJA University Start-up Project provided our team members with a unique platform to refine their business concepts, receive mentorship from industry experts, and gain valuable insights into various aspects of entrepreneurship. Through rigorous training, coaching, and networking opportunities, they deepened their understanding of business development, financial planning, market analysis, and more. We are immensely proud of our team for their achievements and the hard work they put into their projects throughout the program. This workshop provided an incredible opportunity for our team to enhance our knowledge, skills, and understanding of the rapidly evolving landscape of digital innovation. Through interactive sessions, expert-led discussions, and hands-on exercises, we delved into various aspects of entrepreneurship in the digital age. Our team members actively engaged in exploring topics such as design thinking, digital marketing strategies, and emerging technologies. We learned about the latest trends, tools, and methodologies that are driving innovation in the digital space. Participating in this workshop has equipped us with valuable insights and practical skills that will undoubtedly contribute to our entrepreneurial endeavors. Workshop on Digital Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Life Skills, and Career Pathway Training : for AASTU Academic staff and Students October, 2023 *********************** Addis Ababa Science and Technology University is tremendously working on national and international impacted collaborative projects with other institutions. NORHED II 2021–2026 is a project that AASTU is working with the Norwegian government to strengthen the capacity of higher education institutions to produce higher-quality graduates, output oriented quality research, and more on inclusive higher education strategies. In relation to this, Addis Ababa Science and Technology University’s Big Data Analytic Center of Excellence, in collaboration with the Nurture project (NORHEDII: 2021-2026), organized a two-day industry-focused and business-oriented training workshop for the university academic staff and students. While opening the workshop, Dr. Abreham Debebe VPRTT, gave due credit to all participants for their participation and warmly welcomed honorable trainers from OSLO, MINT and private institutions. In the workshop, Dr. Aberham Debebe, briefly explained and presented overview of AASTU and potential areas for collaboration. Dr. Abreham stressed that, many visionary students aspire to run their own business, and want to innovate new innovations mainly because they seek autonomy, financial security, and vocational flexibility. Nonetheless, many students have no intention of pursuing a career in business. Instead, they gravitate to public service. Interestingly, these students also need to develop skills that prepare them to innovate, lead, collaborate, and persevere; that is why such type of training is so important for all students and the academic staff. In order to realize this, the university is working on quality education through accreditation and facilitating innovative students to work on their innovation and startups. The expertise from the Ministry of Innovation and Technology shared their insightful thoughts on the role of digital innovation and transformation in Ethiopia. Expertise from Fintech industries and applications in Ethiopia showed the way to cope up challenges and utilize opportunities and insights. The challenges of starting a business, entrepreneurial mindset and qualities, preparing a business plan, and the career pathway of online job hunting were the central topics discussed and shared by the trainers. Date: October 17, 2023 To: All Interested AASTU Academic Staff, AASTU PG and Senior UG Students Subject: Invitation for Registration to Attend a Training Workshop on Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship Dear All, The CoE for HPC and Big Data Analytics, the Nurture Project and the Office of the VPRTT (AASTU) would like to invite you to register for a Practical Training Workshop on Digital Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Communication Skills and Career Pathways, which will be delivered and demonstrated by Highly Qualified Diaspora Experts from Norway and USA as well as highly experienced trainers from the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MInT). This application of FinTech and emerging technologies focused workshop will be conducted for 2 full days (9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)  on Oct. 19 and Oct. 20, 2023. The main purpose of the workshop is to provide practical training and demonstration on Digital Innovation, FinTech Applications, Entrepreneurship opportunities for senior UG students, PG students and young innovators at AASTU.  Some of the specific and major topics that will be covered by the training workshop include Challenges and Opportunities for Digital Innovation, FinTech Applications, Entrepreneurial Mindset and Qualities, Basic Techniques for Preparation of a Quality and Successful Business Plan, Strategies for Launching Startup with Seed Funding in Ethiopia. Detailed schedule and program of the workshop will be sent to the registered and accepted participants very soon, Accordingly, 2 full days’ attendance and active participation in the workshop discussions are mandatory for all registered and accepted participants. Even though the registration for this important Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship workshop is open for all senior UG students (Year III and above), PG students, faculty members and researchers at AASTU, since the maximum number of trainees that can be accepted and accommodated to attend the workshop is 100, please register for the workshop as urgently as possible by using the following online registration form.
