The Army Special Operations Training School (ASOTS) on Monday 27 July 2026, commenced a five-day Inter-Company Novice Boxing Competition for recruits of Basic Infantry Training Course (BITC) 1/2026 at Daboya.
The competition, which ends on Friday 31 July 2026, forms part of the Schoolβs training programme aimed at enhancing the physical fitness, resilience and combat readiness of the recruits.
The event is designed to test the recruitsβ endurance, determination and fighting ability while promoting discipline, self-confidence, sportsmanship and the fighting spirit expected of every soldier.
Recruits from the various training companies will compete in different weight categories under the supervision of qualified instructors, with strict adherence to safety standards and military regulations.

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced that applicants who failed the medical stage of the 2025/2026 recruitment exercise may get another opportunity.
Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, advised affected applicants to check the reasons for their disqualification at the medical centres where they were screened.
According to him, candidates with treatable medical conditions are encouraged to seek medical attention, as they may be invited again for a review.
The decision follows an intervention by President John Dramani Mahama to increase recruitment numbers, creating room for reconsideration of some previously disqualified applicants. | 477 |
