It was wonderful to meet Jean Becker, Chief of Staff to President George H. W. Bush, and to hear some of the inspiring stories about President Bush that Ms. Becker wrote about in her new book Character Matters. She was one of the closest people to the Bush family both in the White House and afterwards.
And I got my first book from an author’s hand with an autograph.

I was expecting that Trump would win because he did a good job of doing rallies and appealing to the emotions of people, including those around the world. In fact, I am most surprised by the interest our uzbek people had in the presidential election. Our people have been even judging and discussing the potential policies of both candidates. | 4 |  +1On last Tuesday, I was invited to meet with the United States Under Secretary of State Uzra Zeya. She was appointed to this position by the President and confirmed by the US Senate. Under Secretary is responsible for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights. When I introduced myself as a student from Uzbekistan, she mentioned her visit to Uzbekistan in late May this year and expressed her gratitude to our government for the warm welcome she had received.
Here at UC, it was wonderful to meet Under Secretary and learn about her unique path to foreign service at the U.S. Department of State. She inspired us to pursue a career in foreign service and strengthen diplomacy around the world. | 0 |

| 8 |  +5Two weeks ago on Monday morning, the Portman Center invited the Board Members, Donors and other good people to meet with us (Portman Fellows). The old man sitting next to me in the fourth picture is the CEO of Western & Southern Life Insurance Company in Cincinnati. His name is John F. Barrett. At the table, he told me about his experience in Wall Street in New York, which was interesting to listen to as well as reminiscent of the movie “The Wolf of Wall Street” in which Leonardo DiCaprio played. | 10 |  +6Friday evening, we - Nick, Emily, I, and two more girls - had the pleasure to attend and volunteer at the event organized by Scott O’Reilly, who is a business law professor at UC as well as a prosecutor in Cincinnati. He runs a non-profit organization called Little Fork Advocacy Center. He invited us to help him out to hold a fund-raising Gala for which around 220 attendees gathered, including CEOs, donors, and other good people. This was the best volunteering experience I have ever been part of so far. All of us were happy to be able to contribute to the mission of Little Fork because it provides really important assistance to victims of crime. | 0 |

Read the last paragraph which gives example of two employers that paid penalty for administering discriminatory physical ability tests.
