Mass copying complaints: JKBOSE registers several cases JK Tweet Srinagar: Complaints about alleged mass copying by the students in the examination centres in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir are pouring in from different quarters, throwing a major challenge for the authorities to maintain sanctity of the ongoing exams. The complaints have poured in from various examination centres in Kashmir and Jammu division, raising questions on the sanctity of the examination maintained by the concerned staff deployed for the exams. The class 10th, 11th and 12th examinations are being conducted by the JKBOSE in soft and hard zone areas across Jammu and Kashmir. However the complaints of mass copying in exam centres has put a spotlight on JK Board of School Education (BOSE). Besides the verbal complaints, the stakeholders have sent emails to the concerned authorities in JKBOSE following which the officers have conducted several inspections of the examination centres in different areas across J&K. Such complaints came to fore at a time when the Education Minister Sakina Itoo, Financial Commissioner and concerned Director School Education visited various examination centres across J&K. "We received messages and several emails from people who complained about copying in examination centres. In wake of this, a team of officers from JKBOSE conducted inspection of several examination centres to assess the ground situation," a top official of JKBOSE told Greater Kashmir. On February 28 of 2025 a team from JKBOSE conducted inspection of various examination centres in north Kashmir's Baramulla district and two cases of cheating were prepared against the students. The team visited around nine centres designated in three schools of Baramulla. In one of the schools, two cheating cases were registered against the students in one of the schools," an official said. The situation in Jammu is no different as stakeholders have apprised the authorities about the mass copying being encouraged in the examination centres. The stakeholders have sought strict action against those involved in this misconduct and who encourage such malpractice which "mars the sanctity of the examination." In wake of the complaints, the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has issued an official communication to all the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) with the instructions to take appropriate steps. "This directorate has received complaints from various quarters and stakeholders regarding mass copying and malpractice in the ongoing class 10th, 11th and 12th examination," reads an official communication issued to all the CEOs of Jammu division. "In view of these complaints, you are directed to take appropriate action," it reads. An official said the JKBOSE has taken cognisance of the complaints and random inspections of examination centres are being conducted to discourage any sort of malpractice inside the examination centres.

*SKUAST-K Announces Result Date for BHT & BAT Entrance Test 2025* JK Tweet *Srinagar, March 1, 2025* – The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) has officially announced the result declaration date for the entrance test conducted for the Basic Horticulture Training (BHT) and Basic Agriculture Training (BAT) programs. According to a notice issued by the Office of the Controller of Examinations, the results for the OMR-based written examination held on *February 16, 2025 (Sunday)* will be available on the university's official website *[www.skuastkashmir.ac.in]* from *March 3, 2025 (Monday) at 12:00 noon onwards*. Shantmanu Given Additional Charge of JKBOSE Chairman, SCERT Director Srinagar, Mar 01: The Jammu and Kashmir government has assigned Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) School Education Department, Shantmanu, IAS the additional charge of Chairman, JKBOSE, and Director, SCERT as an interim arrangement. As per an official order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), a copy of which lies with JKNS, "In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 12 of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education Act, 1975 (Act No. XXVIII of 1975), the Government hereby orders that Mr. Shantmanu, IAS (AGMUT:1991), Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), School Education Department, shall discharge the functions of Chairman, J&K Board of School Education and Director, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), J&K, in addition to his own duties, as an interim arrangement, till further orders." The move comes shortly after the one-month extension of incumbent Chairman Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas ended on February 25. Manhas was appointed on deputation for two years starting January 25, 2023, and was expected to vacate office on January 25, 2025. However, despite no extension orders from the Chief Minister, the J&K government extended his tenure for another month, which ended on February 25. Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Education Department shortlisted 14 candidates for the posts of Chairman JKBOSE and Director SCERT, calling them for an interaction on March 5. The J&K government had reconstituted the Search Committee on December 13, 2024, to recommend candidates for the positions. The committee is led by the Administrative Secretary of the Agricultural Production Department, with members from the School Education Department (SED), General Administration Department (GAD), and Higher Education Department (HED). Additionally, the Vice-Chancellors of the University of Kashmir (KU) and the University of Jammu (JU) are part of the panel.

WhatsApp Down: Major Outage Affect Messaging, Calling Functions JK Tweet New Delhi, Feb 28: WhatsApp has suffered a widespread disruption, impacting users globally. The problem seems to have hit both the app and the platform’s web version. Reports on social media suggest that users are unable to connect or send messages via WhatsApp app, WhatsApp Web and are unable to make any calls. Downdetector, an online service monitoring website performance, recorded a significant surge in user complaints, with over 9000 people in India reporting issues in sending messages, constituting about 80% of total reports. Other reports include server connection problems and issues with the app. The outage, which began around 8:56 pm IST, peaked at around 9.15 pm. Members of The Times of India tech team faced problems in sending messages on app as well as on WhatsApp Web and were unable to make WhatsApp calls at the time of writing. On a global level, around 7000 people reported problems in sending messages (53%), server connections (36%) and the app (10%). Meta, WhatsApp’s parent company, has yet to issue an official statement regarding the cause of the outage.

Open schooling students can appear for NEET: NMC JK Tweet The Undergraduate Medical Education Board of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has said that students studying through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) are eligible to appear for NEET UG examinations. Students who have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English will be eligible for NEET if they study Biology as an additional subject from the NIOS with the condition that the study needs to be carried out from any authorized institutions. The NMC has said this in public notice that seeks to set the right impression created by the NEET-UG Bulletin 2025 issued by the National Testing Agency, which it says is not as per NMC regulations. The NMC has also furnished this reply to an RTI from an applicant studying through NIOS, State Open Schools and Private Candidate category.

More Rain, Snow Expected as JK Sees Slight Relief from Dry Spell JK Tweet SRINAGAR: The recent spell of precipitation has reduced the rainfall deficiency by 14 per cent, bringing it down from 83 per cent last week to 69 per cent as of Wednesday. Significant precipitation has been recorded at Kargil station in Ladakh, as well as in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu division over the past week. After receiving no rainfall in the first 50 days of this year, Kargil recorded 16.4 mm of rainfall against the normal precipitation of 25 mm over the last 57 days of 2025. The precipitation deficit in Rajouri and Poonch districts has decreased from over 70 per cent to 50 per cent, according to data. Across Jammu and Kashmir, the overall rainfall deficiency has dropped to 69 per cent, compared to 83 per cent last week. As per official data, against the normal precipitation of 215.5 mm, the region has recorded 65.8 mm of rainfall from January 1 to February 26. However, despite this reduction, several districts in Jammu and Kashmir remain in the “large deficiency” category. Data shows that rainfall deficiency ranges between 60 and 84 per cent across various districts, including Srinagar, the summer capital of the Union Territory, which has recorded a 74 per cent deficiency during this period. Further rain and snowfall are expected over the next two days, which could help reduce the seasonal rainfall deficit. The meteorological department has issued yellow and orange alerts for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting light to moderate rainfall until February 28.
