Throwback to 2007. Happy solstice and blessed Yule everyone.

Christmas penguins always bothered me, as they live in the South Pole and most holiday lore takes place in the northern hemisphere. Friends and I have adopted the extinct Great Auk, Pinguinus impennis, as the official holiday "penguin", which we celebrate on the solstice. Merry Auksmas, everyone. May your solstice be merry and bright, and all your auks be black and white. On a personal note, I unfortunately lost my father unexpectedly last night. It was fast, painless, but I’m reeling. Thank you in advance for your kindness during this time. I’m doing ok all things considered but this is going to be a rough holiday for me and this longest night will be the longest of my life so far, needless to say.

Today's my first day off until after Christmas, so I figured I'd share our holiday card this year featuring myself, my husband Skorzy, and our dog Banshee as Krampus. Hope certain family members aren't too upset about the "Christmas demon" they got in the mail but, do they even know me at all?
