Risk factors for Barrett esophagus#⃣ Chronic GERD symptoms (weekly symptoms for ≥ 5 years) #⃣ Male sex #⃣ Age > 50 years #⃣ White race #⃣ Smoking #⃣ Obesity #⃣ Family history of Barrett esophagus or esophageal adenocarcinoma in a first-degree relative

Red Flags in GERD:#⃣Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) #⃣ Odynophagia (painful swallowing) #⃣Anemia and/or signs of GI bleeding (e.g., hematemesis, hematochezia) #⃣Unintentional weight loss #⃣Vomiting #⃣Presence of > 1 risk factor for Barrett's esophagus
• Revised Jones criteria for the diagnosis of ARF❗️Initial episode of ARF: two major criteria or one major plus two minor criteria ❗️Recurrent ARF: either the same as for an initial episode of ARF or the presence of three minor criteria
