Spanish daily El Mundo claims Russia is preparing to strike Spain, France or Italy with Gerbera drones launched from shipping containers aboard merchant vessels in the Mediterranean.
The entire story rests on one anonymous source "close to the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence." According to this source, CIA Director John Ratcliffe passed the warning to European governments after his 25 August visit to Moscow.
According to El Mundo, the supposed goal isn't real damage. The drone carries about 4 to 5 kg of explosives. The claimed aim is to shut down an airport, start a fire, or "demonstrate capability."
