#personal #photo Visited a falconry yard in Moscow. Russian falconry reached its heyday under Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich; during his reign there were more than 3000 different falconers. Now Moscow is a huge city, and in its different parts one can find the name "falconry". It's amazing how before it was all villages, hunting grounds, now it takes ~40 minutes by subway between these points. Falcons are very venturesome birds. They understand perfectly well that hunting a target is a game with a prize, and they will try to trick the keeper. Each bird has its own character, and not every falconer can work with all birds. Falcons of the yard are imprints, but they live in a kind of ideal world of birds of prey - every hunt is winnable and they are never a prey themselves for a larger bird. Unfortunately I missed the most spectacular moments in the video. But I managed to capture something. On the video - saker falcon.
