Don’t be like that crazy woman in Makkah! We know you did good in Ramadhān but we ask that you uphold the good deeds that you did and maintain a level of Īmān that we’ve said that you don’t go below. This leads us to the next point that I want to talk about. There are categories of people: some of you completed the Qur’ān once, twice, fifteen times. I know some people who did it thirty times. Ash-Shāfi'ī’ did it sixty times, they took advantage and later the biggest of burden they put on their shoulders: sins. They prayed the nights, they fasted the days and they made du’ā standing and on their sides are those people saying “congratulations may Allāh accept from you and may you continue”. But be aware! Don’t destroy that mountain of deeds you have accumulated and let it go and vanish. Would you throw away that hard work? What do you think about someone, wins millions and sits, takes his millions dollar by dollar and burns them? What do you think about an engineer who builds a high rise – everyone loves it – and then goes to the high rise and tears it down brick by brick. What do you think about that person? What do you think about someone who takes his lifelong savings, he works so hard for and throws it in the trash? What do you think about that person? That’s an example Allāh gave us Sūrah an-Nahl. وَلَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّتِي نَقَضَتْ غَزْلَهَا مِن بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ Don’t be like her who undoes the thread which she had spun and after it has become strong. What’s that verse mean? ‘Abdullāh ibn Kathīr as-Sudi, Mujāhid, Qutādah, ibn Zayd and others said that the true meaning of this verse is that there was a crazy woman in Makkah, everytime she yearns, she knits, she gets to the end and then pulls the strings apart. She makes a nice blanket, she makes a nice garment, when she gets to the end, she takes it apart. This is the example Allāh is trying to give you. Don’t destroy your deeds, you worked so hard for a month, you left your desires you could only leave for the Sake of Allāh, you got a great balance now. An eternal balance that will determine heaven or hell for you, now after all you did; don’t ruin it, don’t be like that crazy woman in Makkah. Don’t be like that crazy engineer. Don’t be like that millionaire. You got your deeds. Preserve them! - Shaykh Ahmad Mūsā Jibrīl حفظه الله

تَقَبَّلَ اللّهُ مِنَّا وَ مِنْكُمْ The End Of Ramaḍān Ibn Rajab al-Ḥanbalī رحمه الله said these lines of poetry upon completion of Ramaḍān: • Oh you, who your Lord has freed from the Fire, be warned of returning to the servitude of the wretched after being freed! • Will your Lord distance you from the Fire, while you seek to become nearer to it?! He (Allāh) saved you from it, while you seek to throw yourself in it, and don’t care to protect yourself from it! • If mercy is shown to the good-doers, then the wrong-doer should not despair from it, and if forgiveness is shown to those who have piety, then one who has wronged himself will not be deprived of it. ● [لطائف المعارف]
