Тааак Гайс, у меня вышли результаты, даю вам знать, просто чтобы вопросами не закидывали, скор отправлять никуда не буду. Для айви и МИТ этот скор средний и не покажет меня как идеальный студент для них, поэтому лучше без сабджекта

Давно от меня не было вестей. Начну с того, что я сломала свой телефон🤠 Нууу дело было мутное и непонятное, я и сама полностью не поняла почему он у меня сломался. Но рест ин пис, бедный телефон. Надо теперь еще и телефон либо чинить, либо новый брать. Затраты🥲 Из новостей, вы помните, что мне Левер тьютор писали и отправляли задачи для отбора на их курс. Я задачи отправить не успела по определенным обстоятельствам, и им видимо, интересна я¿ или мои деньги¿ но насчет денег они ничего не говорят, что оплата нужна итд, итп. Они решили предложить устроить интервью и без «проверочных заданий». Я предложила время и дату, сейчас ждем ответа от них.

А вообще, на самом деле, быть стабильной это очень хорошо, особенно, когда ты ведешь канал о поступлении и ты обязана поддерживать людей огромным потоком информации. Keep’em busy:) Теперь переходим к реальной проблеме: I’m stuck in the middle of something(idgaf about what that thing is). Впервые такое ощущение, что моя цель пустая, будто не я этого хочу, а кто-то другой и я двигаюсь не в том направлении. Перфекционист, который старается иметь порядок и организованность во всем в своей жизни, может быть пора отпустить этого человека и принять хаос в свою жизнь? Что если, слова, в которые я верю очень давно неверны? What if discipline is not actually power? What if order is not actually power? К тому же, прошел уже месяц лета и я ничего не сделала за лето, what if I accept the part of myself, which includes me as a chaotic person? Way to go, so I’ll know what I’m talking about. Вообще, я сегодня должна была устроить встречу в команде подающих в этом году, но я заболела и не устроила, может быть я думаю обо всех этих вещах из-за того, что приболела? О Боже, Алмата, что ты творишь со мной?

Так, я воспользовалась своими Шымкентскими корнями и сразу зарегалась на августовский сат. Два месяца впереди, удачи🤲🏻

Specialities some top colleges have a knack for (for underclassmen) I graduated just yesterday and will be attending Columbia next year. I’m sharing this because I’m an Asian male who didn’t have the best stats but did have some things I’d like to call specialities which helped me. Specialities are things (high stats/very interesting background/rural area overachiever) particular colleges adore. Of course, having a speciality in general will help, but some colleges drool over particular ones more than others. These are some specialities I’ve observed with specific colleges which may help some underclassmen add some colleges on their list if interested. If you don’t have one, absolutely don’t worry. These are rare, and you should still apply where you want. And if you do have these, you’re obviously not guaranteed a spot at that college. With that being said: - All colleges do, but Columbia and WashU in particular LOVE high stat (1500+, 34+) kids from rural areas, such as Alabama, Mississippi, and Wyoming - Dartmouth and Vanderbilt love very high test scores in general, even if you don’t have the best extracurriculars or grades. But with these schools, I would say it’s near-perfect/perfect scores that count as a speciality (36, 1580+). For Dartmouth, an Asian friend who viewed his admission file noted that his 1550 and essays were practically the reason he was admitted despite having weak ECs and nonperfect grades - Penn CAS has a sweet spot for theatre and/or choir kids. Also, Penn LOVES kids with large social media (mostly on Tiktok) followings for entertainment or informational purposes - Princeton will appreciate a flavor of humanities/arts regardless of major. A passion project in the humanities, awards in large writing contests, etc. will help tremendously even if you’re an anticipated ORFE major - Cornell (mostly CALS) adores kids with backgrounds from rural/farm areas. This one is pretty self-explanatory - USC values high grades (3.9+) and essays much more than test scores. I had an opportunity to talk with my regional admissions counselor and she said most students who are admitted would still probably be admitted if they had a worst score on the sat/act because the test score component is the last thing she looks at after essays and grades, and it very rarely sways her opinion - Duke especially loves students who partake in physically intensive activities like basketball, football, dance, etc. even if they’re not committed to the college for it - Johns Hopkins and Vanderbilt love applicants who play instruments (usually in orchestra/band) and are really good at it, even if they’re not applying to that particular music conservatory or as a music major - Columbia loves political involvement/social justice ECs (NOT self-made non-profits but rather volunteering under social justice organizations, campaigning, etc.) - Emory and Berkeley love applicants with *incredibly* unique/diverse background and perseverance stories (foster child, homeless, had cancer, etc.) even if they have abysmal stats - Princeton has a taste for multiculturalism. Starting a diversity club, international club, etc and immersing yourself in other cultures will definitely help a lot for them. Stanford likes this as well as multilingualism a lot - Brown and CMU have a knack for applicants with art (and other visually abstract/creative) ECs, even if they aren’t applying for design/art majors - Penn and Yale look at figure skating and competitive gymnastics very highly - I feel like this is underrated: HYPSM (and other t25s in general) really, really love jobs at fast food restaurants/franchises/family businesses and for a good reason. It’s hard to balance school and these at the same time. MIT especially has a really big thing for students who are able to maintain amazing grades while also working
