• XOR encryption and decryption: a simplified explanation
*What is XOR encryption?
XOR encryption is a simple encryption technique that relies on an XOR operation between the original data (“plaintext”) and a secret key to generate ciphertext (“ciphertext”).
XOR operation:
XOR is a binary logic operation that compares two binary values (0 or 1) and returns 1 only if the two values are different.
Example:
0 XOR 0 = 0
0 XOR 1 = 1
1 XOR 0 = 1
1 XOR 1 = 0
XOR encryption using a secret key:
1. Convert data to binary: Plain text (original data) is converted to a binary representation (a string of 0 and 1).
2. XOR operation: The XOR operation is applied to each bit of the plaintext with its corresponding bit in the secret key.
3. Ciphertext: This produces a new ciphertext that represents a string of 0s and 1s generated through an XOR operation.
XOR decryption:
To decrypt the ciphertext, the same process is applied using the same secret key:
1. XOR operation: The XOR operation is applied to each bit of the ciphertext along with its corresponding bit in the secret key.
2. Original text: This produces the original text (original data) again.

Assembly language: the key to reverse engineering
What is assembly language?
Assembly language is a low-level programming language that allows programmers to interact directly with the central processing unit (CPU). Assembly language instructions are translated directly into instructions understood by the CPU, giving programmers precise control over how the program works.
Why is assembly language important in reverse engineering?
The assembly language is an essential tool in reverse engineering, the process of analyzing software to understand how it works. This is because assembly language provides engineers with the ability to:
Understanding machine-level code: Assembly language allows engineers to decode binary code and understand how it is executed by the CPU.
Identifying vulnerabilities: Engineers can use assembly language to identify vulnerabilities in software .
Modifying programs: Engineers can create hooks that can modify the program to their liking and reverse it.
