🚨 GNACOPS OFFERS TO ABSORB 54,985 UNPLACED BECE 2026 CANDIDATES INTO PRIVATE SHS The Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) has called on the Ministry of Education to urgently activate an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to help 54,985 BECE candidates who did not secure SHS placement through the CSSPS. Key Highlights: 85 Private Senior High Schools currently under the Free SHS agreement are ready to absorb affected students immediately. No new negotiations are required—the framework and infrastructure are already in place under the existing MoU. Participating private schools will offer structured remedial support, quality instruction, and preparation for WASSCE. GNACOPS is urging the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service (GES), and CSSPS to direct students to these available private school vacancies. #bricyboateng

Teacher Unions Demand Automatic Salary Adjustments for Newly Promoted Teachers The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and Pre-Tertiary Teachers Association of Ghana (PRETAG) have called on the Ghana Education Service (GES) to ensure that all newly promoted teachers are automatically placed on their appropriate salary scales. In a joint statement dated August 27, 2026, the three teacher unions commended the GES for its assurance that newly promoted teachers would be automatically placed on their respective grades and salary levels following their promotion. According to the unions, the arrangement is consistent with an existing practice dating back to 2020, under which teachers promoted to new ranks are automatically placed on the appropriate salary scale to reflect their new positions. The unions, however, warned against any attempt to change the existing arrangement or impose a different system without considering the concerns of teachers, their unions and other stakeholders. “Any attempt to vary the existing practice and forcefully impose same on teachers, with total disregard to the concerns of teachers and their Unions and other related stakeholders will fiercely be resisted with all our strength and might,” the statement said. GNAT, NAGRAT and PRETAG have therefore urged the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service to ensure that all newly promoted teachers are placed on the appropriate salary scales to reflect their new ranks. The unions want the adjustments completed by August 31, 2026, in line with the assurance previously given by the GES. The statement was signed by Thomas T. Musah, General Secretary of GNAT; Jacob Anaba, President of NAGRAT; and King Ali Awudu, President of PRETAG.
