the majority of everyday conversations in which people engage themselves are nothing but attempts to ward off anxiety, that primordial anxiety due to which man is able to experience himself and beings, this authentic experience is of necessity to the maturity of man, but where maturity is cut off by the languid lashes of speech, speech that lashes no one other than the listener, for the listener has to pay for that irruption of speech, and where fear of being immersed in oneself proclaims itself as the very root of that speech, no true engagement can result between man and himself, or between man and another, because the very motive for this speech is something that remains closely and narrowly centered around the self, a self which one is constantly mistaking by an outside engagement with another, a dizzied and confused utterances that have mistaken their interlocutor, one has not fulfilled that deep calling about himself, one has not been gravitated by that calling, one has ignored it, then one proceeds to do away with it completely by engaging with no one else other than himself, for here the other takes the image of a flight from the self, a contorted confrontation, that other is nothing but a thwarted attempt of fleeing from oneself, unless man has delved into his depth, unless that one has listened and gave an ear to his anxiety, nothing genuine can be brought on by that fearful speech, man has to listen to himself so that he can faithfully cross the threshold of himself into another human being. such poverty of experience is the most pitiful, because one is neither in touch with himself, nor is one even capable of being in touch with another, hence one is forever suspended between the threshold of two worlds, perhaps this is why nothing of value, and nothing essential is talked about, one is always reverting to the accidental by ignoring the essential, such a man loves and appreciates himself through another and not in and through himself, as such he must constantly expiate for that lack of love by engaging with another.
