This is factually incorrect, for both elections and replacements. 25th amendment, section 2: Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.
"They can appoint Obama as the Vice President...the Constitution says a president can't run for 3 terms...he's not running for a third term, he's being appointed"
What the Constitution actually says: 12th amendment: But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States. And: 22nd amendment: No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.
This hasn't been challenged in the courts however it is clear that a person who has served two terms as President can't be Vice President unless you amend the Constitution.
