Prelims, a mind game. Friends, fellow learners. How many of us can say that we know even 70% of questions in prelims? Leave aside 70%, even 50% with 100% surety ? What does this show? If anything, this reflects how dicey, how unpredictable, and how luck-based this exam is. But, does that mean, luck alone can help us crack this stage? No. Then what is the key to prelims ? Not hard work alone! Not luck alone ! Then what ? If we analyse the four hours (2 + 2) we sit in the exam hall, we will realise, that the key to prelims, after we have done all the hard work, is those four hours alone. Our months, years of hard work will boil down to those 4 hours. Two for GS, two for csat. We have to be our best version in those 4 hours. Easier said than done? Not quite. Follow this - 1. Mind matters- Keep your mind in "active zone" i e free from any thoughts, focussed at the paper. Practice deep breathing exercises from today itself, if not doing already. 2. Try to be "stress and fear free." It will inc the recall value of your mind. 3. 80-50 rule- Take calculated risk. If you are even 80% sure that your 50 attempts are correct, then reduce your risk appetite for paper 1 4. The Sleep factor-- Everyone will tell you to sleep for 8 hours, relax etc. And they are right. But we all feel anxiety on exam night; so what if anxiety keeps us awake ? Don't worry, your body has its mechanism to deal with such stuff.. adrenaline will do its job, you will still be able to focus..so, don't go worried, if you can't sleep well- you will still do well. 5. Last minute revisions- give this time to low hanging fruits. No point learning about semi-cryogenic tech (i e difficult to remember things)- go for new national parks, WLS, Bio Sphere reserves; new legislations; imp sc judgements (you can find you tube videos for same); imp places in news (again you tube) You tube channel of La- Excellence brings such videos at this time. 6. Food- Yes this is actually imp. Food is directly linked to digestion which in turn is linked to your moods. It seems funny, but is imp. These last days, consume a lot of fruits, fibrous veggies, juice, and drink a lot of water. It will keep your mood in good zone and help you stay happy and positive 7. Emotional Intelligence (not just an ethics topic)-- As I said in point 1- Mind matters, similarly heart/emotions matter too. Keep yourself free, away from any issue, topic, talk, discussion that can give a bad swing to your mood. Psychological recovery from any such negative thing can take from hours to days..we simply can't afford that. Remember-- ignorance is bliss!! 8. Final point -- Character -- our whole life is influenced by this one word--- CHARACTER. Even LBSNAA says-- Sheelam Param Bhusnam. Your hard work, your toiling, your sacrifices all have now contributed towards your towering character--- Believe in it. Believe in yourself. DON'T UNNECESSARILY DOUBT YOURSELF.
