Major food companies are facing a $1 billion lawsuit that accuses them of deliberately engineering their products to be addictive, drawing direct comparisons to the tactics once used by Big Tobacco. In the 1980s, tobacco giants quietly acquired some of America’s most beloved food brands. They brought with them decades of proprietary research into addiction, craving, and consumer behavior, and they applied it to what Americans eat.

A recent study found that ultra-processed foods employ “key engineering strategies adopted from the tobacco industry,” deliberately designed to drive “compulsive consumption.”

A Los Angeles jury awarded Kaley $6 million, finding Meta and YouTube negligent in engineering the addiction that consumed her childhood. The evidence revealed that Meta executives knew their platforms were harming children.

Parents who sued the Montgomery County Board of Education in Maryland after it refused to let them opt their children out of classes discussing books on LGBTQ+ characters will receive a $1.5 million settlement. The Supreme Court handed down a major free speech ruling that could curb states’ ability to steer children with gender confusion toward social transition. In an 8–1 decision, the justices sided with Kaley Chiles, a licensed mental health counselor in Colorado. The implications of the case stretch well beyond one counselor.

For the first time, a major U.S. medical organization has publicly rejected the medical mutilation of minors, and admitted the evidence simply isn’t there. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) broke ranks. In a new position statement, the organization acknowledged there is “insufficient” evidence to justify gender-related endocrine or surgical interventions for children and adolescents.

After decades of escalation, the HHS is reducing the number of vaccines recommended for American children. Predictably, the Medical Industrial Complex is not taking it well.
