ਇਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੋਭਦੇ ਬਾਹਲ਼ੇ; ਮਿਰੇ ਆੜੀ ਜੋ ਰਾਤਾਂ ਦੇ,
ਮਿਰੀ ਜਾਗੋ ’ਚ ਇਹ ਦੀਵੇ ਨੇ ਅਸਮਾਨੀ ਪਰਾਤਾਂ ਦੇ,
ਦੁਆਲ਼ੇ ਵਿਗਸਦੇ ਆਲਮ ਦੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਬਾਤ ਜਿਹੀ ਪਾ ਕੇ;

ਬੜੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼-ਖ਼ੁਲ੍ਕ਼ ਜੁਗਨੂੰ; ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਖੇਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਏ ਨੇ;
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਲ਼ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਣਕ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਣੀ ਲੁਆਏ ਨੇ,
ਕਿ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰੀਆਂ ਸੀ; ਮਿਲਣ ਆ ਗਏ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ; ਇੱਦਾਂ
ਇਹ ਰੁੱਤਾਂ ਕਾਸ਼ਣੀ ਰੰਗ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਰਾਤਾਂ ਰਾੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਸੌਨਾਂ,
