| 2 | 🖥 Bitcoin is up roughly 22% since mid-August, and the companies that mine it have almost entirely missed the move.
Three things behind that:
1️⃣ Of eleven mining and mining-adjacent companies tracked by The Block, only one beat Bitcoin over that stretch, and it builds hardware rather than mines. The rest returned a median of 1.8%. Exchanges and stablecoin companies, meanwhile, kept pace with Bitcoin exactly.
2️⃣ The reason is how they funded their pivot. Miners sold between 28,000 and 32,000 Bitcoin in the first half of the year and committed over $70 billion to AI data centers. For three of the largest, computing is now expected to generate around 70% of revenue this year. The bet may still work, but they paid for it by selling the asset that then rallied.
3️⃣ Bitcoin itself slipped below $78,000, a third straight daily decline after failing at $80,000. ETFs saw $120 million leave yesterday, a second consecutive outflow, while ether funds took in $35 million.
Miner stocks used to move harder than Bitcoin in both directions. That amplification just didn't show up.

| 3 | More than 71% of all Bitcoin supply is now in profit, closing in on the 74.7% level that has historically preceded bear-to-bull transitions.
👀 Watching: "That's the signal. Every bull market started here."
🧠 Thinking: "The same number means 71% of holders can sell without taking a loss. Bitcoin has been rejected twice at $82,000 this month. Which force shows up first?"
The difference isn't experience. It's remembering that every bullish metric has a seller on the other side of it.

| 4 | 🟢 Bitcoin recovered to $79,640 overnight after dipping to $77,600 yesterday. Oil is nearing $100 amid escalating strikes in the Gulf, which normally pressures risk assets, yet crypto held up.
What's underneath:
1️⃣ More than 71% of all Bitcoin is now sitting in profit, per Bitfinex. The historical average is 74.7%, and crossing it has usually marked the shift from bear to bull. But there's a catch they point out themselves: more coins in profit also means more people who can sell. That may explain why the push toward $82,000 keeps stalling. Glassnode adds that volatility right now is driven less by leverage or market size and more by who actually holds the coins.
2️⃣ Strategy's return to bitcoin buying lasted exactly one week. Instead of adding more, the company spent $176 million buying back its own preferred shares. Bitmine went the other way, adding 28,086 ETH and moving within reach of 5% of the entire ether supply.
3️⃣ Both Bitcoin and Ether ETFs saw small outflows on Tuesday, around $47 million and $24 million. Bitfinex flags this as the thing to watch: whether inflows hold through this week's Treasury buyback and Friday's inflation print.
71% in profit reads bullish until you remember every one of them can sell. Which side of that are you on?

| 6 | ✉️ The Liquid Network attackers returned 3,400 of the 4,000 bitcoin they took on Sunday, about 85% of it, after Blockstream patched the bug they exploited. They kept roughly $47 million and haven't explained why. The network is still offline.
What else is on the radar:
1️⃣A security firm called Hacken found that about half of all USDT in circulation, roughly $91 billion on the Tron network, sits behind a contract needing only two of three keys. There's no timelock and no way to reverse an unauthorized change. Hacken found no evidence of any breach.
2️⃣ The timing is awkward. The same review upgraded Tether's rating from D to C after KPMG confirmed reserves exceed liabilities by $6.8 billion. Its cybersecurity score was 3.3 out of 10. Financially solid, structurally exposed.
3️⃣ Bitcoin slipped to $78,300 as Fed hike odds climbed back to 59%, with the meeting eight days out. Friday's inflation print is the last real data before the decision.
Half of USDT sits behind two keys. Does that change how you think about stablecoin risk?

| 7 | 📢 Liquid Network, a Bitcoin sidechain built by Blockstream, paused operations on Sunday after actors calling themselves white-hat hackers withdrew about 4,000 BTC, roughly $320 million and 95% of its reserves.
Three things worth knowing:
🔹 The attackers left an on-chain message reading "We are whitehats. Contact us on chain," and told Blockstream they would return most of the funds once the bug is patched. Nothing has come back yet. Blockstream says the cause was a software flaw in Elements, not stolen keys. Bitcoin itself was never touched, only the system that issues Liquid Bitcoin against locked BTC.
🔹 Friday's jobs report came in at 162,000 against expectations of 53,000, the strongest since March. But the bigger story was in the revisions. July, which everyone read last month as the month the labor market went into reverse, turned out to be positive after all. June was revised up too. The stalling labor market that traders had been pricing in largely wasn't there.
🔹 That reset pushed Fed hike odds higher and Bitcoin below $80,000. US markets are closed today for Labor Day, but the week fills up fast: the ECB is expected to raise rates Thursday, and US inflation lands Friday, the last major print before the Fed meets September 16.
A $320 million exploit on a Bitcoin sidechain and price barely moved. Priced in, or not noticed yet?

| 13 | ☀️ Bitcoin is back near $78,000 despite a global bond selloff that's pressuring risk assets everywhere.
Three things underneath that:
1️⃣ Bedrock (BR) and Useless Coin (USELESS) are among the day's biggest movers, up 38.5% and 27.1% respectively. Worth noting the wider picture though: most crypto sectors are down over the past week, so these are isolated moves rather than a broad rally.
2️⃣ Remixpoint, a Tokyo-listed company that holds crypto on its balance sheet, sold its entire ETH, SOL, XRP and DOGE stack to go bitcoin-only. It's a direct counterpoint to the trend we noted yesterday, where treasury companies built around altcoins have been outperforming Bitcoin-only ones. Same strategy, opposite conclusions.
3️⃣ The SEC proposed updating a set of rules that haven't been touched in 40 years, specifically because of tokenization. These rules govern the companies that keep the official ownership records for stocks and bonds. Nobody can move real securities onto a blockchain until that paperwork layer gets rewritten, so this is groundwork rather than headline news.
Jobless claims land today, payrolls tomorrow. Government bonds are already paying more, which pulls money away from riskier bets. What's
your read going into it?

| 16 | 🟢 Bitcoin is holding above $77,500 while oil sits at $95 and Asian markets sell off. Crypto is taking the latest Iran escalation better than most risk assets.
Three things worth knowing:
1️⃣ ETF flows swung negative again with $236 million leaving on Monday, after $217 million came in the day before. That alternating pattern reads more like indecision than a clear shift either way.
2️⃣ Citi, Goldman Sachs and a group of other global banks and asset managers are teaming up on a joint stablecoin venture. Separately, Singapore proposed rules requiring 100% reserves and banning yield for stablecoin issuers. Regulators and banks are converging on the same product from opposite directions.
3️⃣ Crypto treasury companies now hold $340 billion in combined market cap, with the ones built around altcoins outperforming Bitcoin-only vehicles. That's a notable shift, given the model started with BTC and most attention still goes there.
Oil at $95, Asian equities down 3%, and Bitcoin above $77,000. Resilience or delayed reaction?

| 18 | ➡️ Strategy is buying bitcoin again after a two-month pause, picking up 4,603 BTC for $369.7 million at an average of $80,318. Over the summer the company sold 6,948 BTC at around $62,250, so it now holds about 2,345 fewer coins than before the selling began.
What else is moving:
1️⃣ Bitcoin closed August up roughly 24%, the first positive month of this bear market. Price is at $77,900 this morning.
2️⃣ ETF flows turned positive again with $217 million on Monday, after Friday's single-day reversal. Ether funds have now taken in money 11 days straight, a longer run than Bitcoin managed. Yet the Altcoin Season Index dropped to 24, the lowest reading of the year, so capital keeps consolidating into Bitcoin even as ETH outperforms.
3️⃣ EU inflation came in at 3.3% this morning, up from 2.9%. In the US, odds of a Fed rate hike on September 16 sit at 66%. Friday's jobs report is the last major data point before that decision.
Sold at $62,000, bought back at $80,000. Bad timing or the cost of running a treasury?

| 20 | 🖥 The nine-day ETF inflow streak ended on Friday with $202 million leaving the funds. Total assets slipped back below $100 billion just days after crossing it. Bitcoin is sitting at $78,000.
Three things worth knowing:
1️⃣ Fed Chair Warsh spoke at Jackson Hole and gave markets nothing beyond a commitment to keep fighting inflation. Bitcoin dropped below $80,000 after. Rate hike odds for the September 16 meeting now sit at 59%.
2️⃣ Solana holders voted to slow down how fast new SOL gets created. It passed by a razor-thin margin, needing two thirds and getting 67.001%. Around 18.9 million fewer SOL will enter circulation over the next six years. The tradeoff is lower staking rewards, projected to fall toward 2.25% within three years.
3️⃣ Nonfarm payrolls land Friday with a forecast of 58,000 jobs, up from last month's negative 23,000. Two consecutive weak prints would make a September hike much harder to justify. A strong number does the opposite. This is the week's main event.
Nine days of inflows, then a $202 million reversal. Start of a pullback, or just a pause?
