The constant stress of dealing with Francis's abusive behavior and the financial hardships that follow orten leave Adah with limited emotional resources to dedicate to her children. This neglect, while not always overt, manifests in the children's emotional and psychological struggles. Despite the difficulties, Adah makes significant efforts to protect her children from the worst impacts of her tumultuous relationship and financial struggles. Her determination to provide for them and seek a better life demonstrates her resilience. Adah's protective instincts and efforts to shield her children from the worst of their circumstances highlight her deep care for their well- being.
