Recently, there has been a concerning trend among Play Console developers where some have been tempted to publish apps developed by others under their own account. This practice may seem harmless at first glance, especially when the apps appear simple on the surface. However, what may not be apparent is that many of these seemingly innocuous apps contain hidden malicious code in the backend.
Publishing apps that you did not develop yourself, or without proper authorization, can lead to severe consequences, including the permanent suspension of your Play Console account. The reason behind this is often the presence of unauthorized or malicious content within these apps, which violates Google's policies and guidelines.
Unfortunately, many developers have learned this lesson the hard way, as their accounts have been suspended due to the presence of unauthorized content in apps they published. Even if you were not aware of the malicious content, as the account owner, you are ultimately responsible for the apps published under your account.
As a cautionary tale, I recently experienced the suspension of my own Play Console account, which was only a year old. Upon investigation, it became evident that the suspension was a result of publishing apps developed by others, which contained hidden malicious components. This experience serves as a reminder to all developers to exercise caution and diligence when publishing apps on their Play Console accounts.
