At 6PM EST, nodes simultaneously came online and the chain restarted as planned. Since that point, blocks are being consistently produced and transactions are executing. We'll update here if anything changes.

Due to a bug that was discovered in testing, to provide more time to release a hotfix and ensure maximum stability, we have decided to postpone the chain restart until 6pm EST tomorrow (Friday July 2nd) at the earliest. App service remains uninterrupted. If you are a node runner, join the Discord to get more details and coordinate with our restart.

At around 11pm EST yesterday, we passed a block at height 30039, resuming the chain. However, the chain has not moved since then due to peering inconsistencies. To get the nodes back in sync, we’re deploying the same shutdown-restart strategy that we did the last time the chain halted. We are asking all node runners to update to 0.6.3.3 by 5pm EST. This will sleep the nodes until 6pm EST then wake them up in sync. If you’re a node runner, please join the Discord where we’ll be coordinating on the restart. For the rest of us, this means the earliest the chain will resume is ~6pm EST.

* End-of-day Chain Halt Update * Currently ~64% of the voting power is online and participating in voting rounds, which means we need ~2.67% more to produce the next block and get the chain moving again. At the current rate that we’re gaining voting power (1-2% every 5 rounds), we should attain enough voting power in about 15 voting rounds, which we estimate to be about 2.5 hours. In the event that this voting power growth continues, we should achieve 66.67% voting power and produce a new block without any further intervention. However, in the event that this voting power growth doesn’t continue and reach 66.67% by tomorrow, we plan to coordinate with Node Runners to do a shutdown-restart like we did to resolve the previous case of high voting rounds, detailed here: https://forum.pokt.network/t/pocket-network-chain-halt-05-28-05-31-details/1046. Because many of our node runners are wrapping up for the night, we have decided to let the voting power growth play out, then deploy the shutdown-restart strategy tomorrow if the chain hasn’t resumed. This means there are two possible outcomes: - We continue gaining voting power at the current pace and the chain resumes in ~2.5h - We don’t gain the required voting power overnight and thus we deploy the shutdown-restart strategy tomorrow As always, we will post updates here as new information comes in.

Update re the above: - Thanks to the efforts of our node runners downgrading from Beta-0.6.4, we have 66% validator power staked on RC-0.6.3 - Currently only about 40% of this voting power is caught up with the current voting round (18) and casting votes on time - Once we have 66% validator power casting votes on time, the chain will resume. Our focus is therefore on assisting node runners with catching up to the latest voting round. We will share details as soon as more progress is made.

We are currently experiencing a chain halt as a result of the larger than usual number of node runners using Beta-0.6.4. The patch has been released and will wake the upgraded nodes up at 6pm EST https://forum.pokt.network/t/chain-halt-status-update/1021/2. As of now, the majority of our largest node runners have upgraded to the patch. This means that the chain is expected to resume around 6pm EST.

POKT Network is currently experiencing what's called a Chain Halt, meaning there is a lack of consensus required to produce new blocks.
