News from the Martins and Mongolia

In the future we'll be going back to using this group to share family and ministry updates. Many of you joined this group for updates from the accident, so if you'd rather not continue to follow we completely understand and you can feel free to leave the group. This is what happens when it's -35 and you throw water in the air!

Happy New Year from our family and icy cold Mongolia! May we all experience the nearness of Christ in 2024.

Praise God that Dorjoo is doing very well. Temujin returned home last week. He is still not putting any weight on his femur (it was badly broken and out through his skin) and there is some concern it's not healing properly. Continue to pray for Symya, who is still in UB and still uncertain how much mobility he will regain.

On January 5th, join us for a few hours of prayer for people groups with few believers, and for the DNI teams working in them. You can join from your own home. Click on the link above to register, then you'll receive an email with more details. Even if you can only join for part of the time, it would be great! -As a church, we have been praying that Oscoo and Bymba's lives would be like a grain of wheat that falls into the ground, and yet, by the power of God, brings forth a tremendous harvest. - Praise God that two Christian soccer coaches have decided to move here from UB to continue what Oscoo began and minister to the children and teens who were in his program. We pray that many of these young people would grow up to follow Christ. -Our church will be having a Christmas themed outreach event on Sunday. Please pray that there would be some families who would choose to follow Christ. -Pray for the families of the injured boys, that God would draw them to himself. -Praise God for the gift of resurrection and that we can share hope with those around us. One of the main ways we have felt the goodness of God over the past weeks is through the care of his people. Thank you for being part of that.

Although the injured boys still have a long road of recovery ahead of them, we feel so grateful that they are alive and making progress. We also thank God that their families have been overwhelmingly gracious, not angry or blaming anyone for all the suffering their sons have experienced. It's hopeful that Symya and Temujin may be able to transfer to a local hospital around the end of the year. That would be a relief for their families, some of them haven't been home since the accident.

Thank you to all who have been praying since the accident almost six weeks ago. It feels like the initial raw shock and disbelief has tempered into more of a deep sadness, as we face the reality of the hole left by Oscoo and Bymba. Please continue to pray for their children. Amlalt and Yalalt will live with Oscoo's parents, and Yyalt, their 1 year old, will live with Bymba's parents. Pray that they would be able to find words to express their grief.

Trauma is hard. Holding a baby seems to help.
