For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.”  The Rock that supplied water in the wilderness was not merely a geological feature; it was a spiritual picture of Christ Himself, following and providing for His people. God did not simply give Israel supplies; He was, in a very real sense, the resource. He was the manna they ate, the quail the wind brought, and the water that flowed from the rock. This teaches us that ultimately, prosperity is not a collection of things God gives us from a distance, but Christ Himself, present with us, meeting every need as it arises. As new creatures joined to Christ, we do not merely receive provision from Him; we are in living union with the very Source of provision, and He follows us through every season, just as the Rock followed Israel. This is a comforting picture for seasons when provisions seem to disappear; the manna did not last, and water from a natural rock could run dry, but the spiritual Rock that stood behind every provision never runs out, never grows tired, and never changes His location for His people’s sake. This truth shifts prosperity from a transactional idea; asking God for things, to a relational reality: walking closely with the One who is Himself your supply. Take out quality time to cultivate awareness of His presence with you today, not only His provision to or through you. When you sense a need arising, remember the Rock has not stopped following you; He is ever-present with you, and provision will follow His presence, just as it did for Israel in the wilderness. This relational posture changes the texture of your prayers; instead of only presenting requests, you start enjoying the company of the One who has never once left your side, confident that His presence guarantees His provision will not be left behind. The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Monday, September 07 2026 Meditation: The Doorway to Prosperity Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:2–3 Joshua 1:8 “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” Prosperity, according to this verse, is not random luck; it follows a clear pattern: the Word in your mouth, meditation in your heart, and obedience in your actions. To meditate is to speak the Word to yourself repeatedly, allowing it to sink from your lips into your inner consciousness until the Holy Spirit shows you what God is truly saying. Out of that saturation comes strength, confidence and clarity of vision and only then does right action naturally follow. This is the chain of prosperity: receive the Word, meditate on the Word, and act on the Word. Prosperity is advancement; breaking forth into more, going beyond, each day surpassing the previous. It is not a static state you arrive at once; it is a continual forward motion sustained by ongoing meditation. This is also why hurried, surface-level Bible reading rarely produces the transformation Joshua 1:8 describes; meditation asks for unhurried repetition, not a single glance. Give the Word room to move from your eyes, to your mouth, to your heart, and finally into your hands as action. Many believers want the fruit of Joshua 1:8; prosperity and good success without engaging the process that produces it: sustained, unhurried meditation on the Word. This week, choose one prosperity-related Scripture and meditate on it daily rather than reading it widely and shallowly. Speak it out loud, let it capture your inner consciousness, and watch for the moment it moves from information to conviction. That shift is what precedes right, confident action. Choose one Scripture from this devotional series and meditate on it daily for the rest of this week, speaking it aloud each morning. Take note of one specific action this meditation prompts you to take, and take it in faith. Resist the temptation to measure progress only by how much you have read; measure it instead by how deeply one truth has taken root and begun to bear fruit in your daily decisions. Depth, not breadth, is what Joshua 1:8 promises will make your way prosperous. The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Sunday, September 06 2026 Confidence in the Source, Not the Stream John 1:1–3; Psalm 1:3 John 1:1–3 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”  Everything that exists; gold, silver, ideas, houses, careers, was made by the Word of God. This means the Word of God is not one option among many resources; He is the Source from which every resource flows. You cannot deny the source of a river and yet enjoy drinking from its stream. Many people enjoy the things God has made; money, opportunity, ideas while denying or ignoring the God who made them possible. As a new creation, your relationship to provision must always begin with acknowledging the Source, not merely chasing the stream. When you lean fully on God as Source, you are not gambling on an unstable river that may dry up; you are anchored to the fountain that never runs dry, because He Himself is the fountain. This is why worship and stewardship are never separate conversations in Scripture; the way you relate to the Source shapes the way you relate to everything that flows from Him. Gratitude toward God as Source protects you from both greed and anxiety, because you know the fountain, not merely the cup you are currently holding. It is easy, in seasons of need, to fix your eyes on the visible stream; a job offer, a contract, a particular person and forget the Source who supplied it in the first place. Today, practise the discipline of tracing every good thing back to its origin. When you receive provision, do not simply thank the means; thank the Source who used that means. This keeps your confidence anchored where it belongs, so that if one stream dries up, your peace does not dry up with it. This is not a call to be careless, but a call to relocate your trust to its rightful place. List three good things currently in your life and trace each one back to God as its ultimate Source. Pray specifically thanking God as Source rather than only thanking the visible channel He used. Over time, this discipline reshapes your entire outlook; you begin to see provision not as a string of disconnected coincidences but as the consistent, patterned faithfulness of One Source expressing Himself through many streams. That perspective steadies you even when a particular stream unexpectedly runs dry. The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Saturday, September 05 2026 Prosperity Is Not About Cash 2 Corinthians 9:8; Philippians 4:19 2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”  One of the clearest definitions of biblical prosperity is found in this verse, and remarkably, it never once mentions cash. Prosperity here is defined as sufficiency; God’s ability, by His grace, to meet every need over and above, regardless of what is or is not in your bank account. This matters because many believers wrongly measure prosperity by the presence or absence of money but prosperity is neither the presence of cash nor the absence of it. As a new creation, your sufficiency is not rooted in what you hold in your hand but in who holds you. 2 Corinthians 3:5 confirms this: “Our sufficiency is from God.” This is a settled, unshakeable confidence that is not dependent on your salary, your business performance, or your bank statement, but on the unchanging ability of God to meet every need as it arises. This is why Scripture never measures a believer’s true wealth by market fluctuations or economic seasons; sufficiency was never pegged to the volatility of circumstances but to the unchanging character of God Himself. Even in seasons when your income dips or expenses rise unexpectedly, His grace does not fluctuate with them. This truth frees you from the anxiety of measuring your worth by numbers. You may not have cash at hand today, yet you are not poor, because your confidence is not in cash; it is in God’s ability. Practise separating the two ideas in your thinking: “I don’t have money right now” is a temporary fact; “I am poor” is a false conclusion the enemy wants you to draw from that fact. Refuse the conclusion, even when the fact remains true for a season. Personalise 2 Corinthians 9:8 by inserting your own name and reading it aloud three times slowly. The next time a financial gap appears, say out loud, “My sufficiency is of God, not of my bank account,” before making any decision from fear. This distinction matters more than it first appears, because whichever conclusion you rehearse in your mind becomes the atmosphere you make decisions in. Choose today to rehearse the truth rather than the temporary fact, and watch how differently you respond to the very same circumstance. The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Friday, September 04 2026 He Bore Your Poverty Isaiah 53:3–5; 1 Peter 2:24 Isaiah 53:3–5 “He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief... Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows... He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”  It is common to read this passage only in terms of physical healing, but Scriptures shows us something deeper: poverty itself is a grief, a sorrow, a distress that Jesus carried on the cross. The Amplified Bible renders verse four as Christ bearing “our griefs, sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses” and insufficiency is unmistakably a distress. If Jesus bore our griefs, and poverty is a grief, then poverty was included in what He carried at Calvary. Verse five says “the chastisement for our peace was upon Him.” The Hebrew word translated “peace” here is shalom, a word that encompasses wholeness, safety, and prosperity; nothing missing, nothing broken. Peace and prosperity are not separate blessings in Scripture; they are woven together. This means when Jesus purchased your peace, He purchased your prosperity in the same breath, by the same stripes, at the same cross. This is why the gospel writers link Jesus’ ministry of healing so closely with His ministry of provision; He fed multitudes, calmed storms, and multiplied resources, because the same compassion that touched sickness also touched scarcity. Nothing about your need is outside the reach of what was accomplished at Calvary. Many believers confidently declare healing over sickness but hesitate to declare abundance over lack; yet both flow from the same finished work. Begin today to treat insufficiency the way you treat sickness: as something already dealt with at Calvary, not something you are still waiting for God to address. When a need arises, resist the temptation to panic. Instead, remind yourself that the chastisement for your peace; your wholeness, and your sufficiency, was already placed upon Jesus. Read Isaiah 53:4–5 aloud slowly, replacing “our” with your own name, and let it settle as a personal truth. Whenever a need arises this week, respond first with “by His stripes I am made whole” before reacting in worry. Try keeping a simple record this week of every moment insufficiency tries to unsettle you, and beside each entry write the declaration of faith you spoke instead. Over time, this becomes a testimony of how consistently God’s finished work meets you in real, ordinary moments, not only in dramatic ones. The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Thursday, September 03 2026 The Great Exchange 2 Corinthians 8:9; Galatians 3:13 2 Corinthians 8:9 “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.”  This verse is the foundation of every conversation about biblical prosperity. Notice carefully what it does not say. It does not say Jesus struggled His way to bless you; it says He was rich and He became poor for your sakes. This was a conscious, deliberate exchange; not an accident, not a tragedy, but grace at work. Picture two seats: one of majesty and wealth, the other of poverty and lack. Jesus rose from His seat of riches, sat in the seat of our poverty at Calvary, and by that exchange invites us to rise and take His seat of abundance. This is not a promise reserved for heaven; the exchange already happened on the cross, in history, once and for all. As a new creation, your legal standing before God is not “aspiring to be blessed” you have already been made the righteousness of God in Him, and prosperity is part of that inheritance, secured the same way your forgiveness was secured: by grace, through the finished work of Christ. Why? This is an exchange and not a performance-based reward; you do not qualify for it by working harder or feeling more spiritual. You simply receive it the same way you received forgiveness: by faith in what Jesus already did. If you can boldly say “I am forgiven” because of the cross, you can boldly say “I am rich in Christ” on the very same basis. Practise saying both sentences today until neither one feels stranger than the other; they rest on identical ground. Say aloud: “Jesus became poor so that I, through His poverty, might become rich” and let it register as the truth, not wishful thinking. List one financial or material concern you are carrying, and consciously exchange your anxiety for confidence in what Christ has already accomplished. Consider writing both declarations on a card you can see throughout the day, so that repetition trains your heart to receive freely what grace has already provided. The same faith that lays hold of forgiveness lays hold of provision; there is no lesser gospel for your finances than there is for your soul. Jesus was rich, yet He became poor for my sake, that through His poverty I might become rich. I am not trying to earn it; I receive it by grace through faith, exactly as I received my forgiveness. The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Wednesday, September 02 2026 How Poverty Entered the World Romans 5:12; Genesis 3:17–19 Romans 5:12 “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.”  Poverty is not a mystery that fell from nowhere; Scripture is precise about its origin. It was not until Adam and Eve disobeyed God that hardship, toil and thorns entered the human experience. Before the fall, there was pleasure without sweat; after the fall, sweat became the price of bread. This means poverty is a consequence of sin, not a companion of righteousness. As new creatures in Christ, we must understand this clearly: the curse that produced poverty was dealt with the moment Jesus became a curse for us. Galatians 3:13 tells us Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. If the ground was cursed because of Adam’s sin, and Jesus has redeemed us from every curse the law could pronounce, then the curse behind poverty has already been broken over your life. You are no longer relating to God on the basis of the loss at Eden, but on the basis of finished works of Christ at Calvary. It helps to separate diligence from the curse. God still calls us to work, but work under grace is no longer toil driven by a curse; it becomes fruitful labour flowing from the blessing. If you find yourself working hard yet feeling perpetually behind, stop and ask whether you are labouring from a redeemed identity or from an old, cursed mindset that expects struggle no matter what you do. The moment you recognise that the ground of your life has been blessed in Christ, your labour begins to carry a different quality; expectant, confident, and fruitful rather than anxious and exhausting. Confess aloud that the curse behind lack has been broken over your life through Christ and bring one area of “hard toil without result” before God in prayer, asking Him to show you where an old, cursed mindset has been driving your effort. Ponder on the rhythm God gave even under the old covenant; six days of labour followed by a day of rest, and a rhythm that anticipated grace long before Calvary arrived. Rest was never meant to be earned through frantic effort; it flows from trusting a finished work. The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Tuesday, September 01 2026 Born for Pleasure, Not Poverty Genesis 2:8-9; 3 John 1:2 Genesis 2:8-9 “The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food.”  Before sin ever entered the human story, God had already settled the question of poverty. He did not form man and leave him to fend for himself; He first prepared a garden of abundance and then placed man inside it. The word “Eden” carries the meaning of pleasure and delight not scarcity, not struggle, not lack. This tells us something eternally important: God’s original blueprint for man was never poverty. It was pleasure, provision and plenty. Now that you are in Christ, you have not merely been returned to Eden; you have been raised into something far greater. As a new creation, you are joined to the Last Adam, and everything He purchased at Calvary restores and exceeds all that the first Adam lost. When Scripture says God has given us “all things richly to enjoy” (1 Timothy 6:17), it is not offering you a distant hope; it is describing your present inheritance in Christ. Reflect on the environments you have quietly accepted as normal; a mindset that expects lack, that treats hardship as spirituality, and that assumes struggle proves humility. None of that reflects Eden. Today, examine your expectations. Are you living as though scarcity is your portion, or as though abundance is your inheritance in Christ? Begin to speak differently about your life. Instead of saying, “I’m just managing,” declare boldly, “I was formed for pleasure and plenty in Christ Jesus.” Let that truth begin to shape the small decisions you make today. Identify one area where you have accepted lack as “normal,” and replace the thought with a Scripture-based declaration. Thank God specifically today for the provision already at work in your life, however small, as a seed of expectation for more. The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Monday, August 31 2026 The Holy Spirit your Helper John 14:16; John 14:26 John 14:16 “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever”. (AMP) As a believer, the Holy Spirit is your Helper. He is the One sent by the Father to be with us. This same Holy Spirit has a will of His own and you have a will of your own, too. So, though He is here to help you, the Holy Spirit will not force His help on you. You will have to invite Him. You will have to develop that consciousness that you have a Helper, and that you are not without help. If as a believer, you are in faith for financial supplies, tell the Holy Spirit. You will be amazed at how He will supply and meet your needs. He will speak to the hearts of people to help you, and He will show you how to make your life a success. “The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.” (Proverbs 21:1). Someone might ask, “is it that easy?” Yes! It is that easy. However, most believers don’t practise the Word. When you start practising this, you will realise that the Holy Spirit is closer to you than your blood, even than your skin. You can ask Him to help you in everything and He will help you. If God has packaged help in the person of the Holy Spirit for you, it means that God knew beforehand that you would need help. Don't act like you don't need help. Don't struggle. Ask the Holy Spirit of God to open your eyes, to open your understanding; ask Him to help you and He sure will. Don't expect the Holy Spirit to jump on you and help you just like that. You are not a robot; you have to exercise your faith based on God's Word because you are a free moral agent and the Holy Spirit Himself has a will of His own. So, you have to ask the Holy Spirit to help you. God is willing to help you. He wants you to take the posture of receiving His help, just like the Psalmist in Psalms 121:1-2 said, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.” God does not want you to look around for help in man. Psalms 146:3 says, “Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.” Psalms 60:11 further says, “…vain is the help of man." The Almighty God, the Creator of heaven and earth is the One that wants to help you. He is the God who has influence over all the earth. He can touch the hearts of men for your good. He can move their hearts in your favour. He is willing to help you, if only you will call on Him. Little wonder James 4:2b says, “…ye have not, because ye ask not.” Beloved, receive help today. Let the Holy Spirit help you today. Act on the Word. Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Your help is just a call away. The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Sunday, August 30 2026 The Purpose of the Holy Spirit John 7:37-39; Psalms 63:1-2 John 7:37-39 “In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, if any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)” In our opening scripture, the Lord Jesus Christ revealed to us a vital ministry of the Holy Spirit. Reading the things that Jesus said about the Holy Spirit will give us pointers to the purpose of the Holy Spirit. Our opening Scripture shows us clearly the mission of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has come to satisfy the thirst of believers, our thirst for God, for His presence, for the things of God. Our satisfaction comes from Him. That means you can never have your thirst quenched, your desires met or satisfied without the Holy Spirit. So, if there is anything you desire of God, there is only one Person that can meet that need - the Holy Spirit. Naturally speaking, if a man is thirsty, he may need a cup of water, he may need a jug of water or a crucible of water, but I have not seen anyone who is thirsty and needs rivers of water. So, that means God is giving us much more than we need so that we can be a blessing to other people. The Word tells us that out of us shall flow rivers of living water, not trickles of living water! We are the seed of Abraham and are meant to be a blessing to our world. How then does God satisfy the thirst of His children? God does this by satisfying your thirst first, and then He also satisfies the thirst of other people through you. So, that means it is through the ministry of the Holy Spirit that you can meet the needs of others, which includes their desire to reach God and encounter Him, their desire to know God, and to be intimate with Him. God meets our needs over and above what we require and then He makes us a blessing to others. So, He comes to satisfy us, and to satisfy others through us. The Holy Spirit is the satisfaction of the believer. Whatever imagination or desire you have of God, that desire or thirst will be met by the Holy Spirit. Do you desire to be effective in ministry, career, business, marriage, or life in general? It is the Holy Spirit that will meet that desire. Lift up your desires to God today in the place of prayers and He will release the rivers of living waters out of your belly as you commune with God, ministering to the Lord and praying in tongues. Give yourself to prayers and unleash the fountains of God within your spirit!
