ā—ļøAccording to several media reports, armed groups attacked and shot at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Hama in central Syria. The armed militants vandalized the archdiocese’s furniture and religious symbols, and desecrated graves. The Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)-run security services reportedly issued an apology for the incident, assuring that the perpetrators would be held accountable. The incident at the Archdiocese comes amidst several reports of attacks against minorities in Syria, following HTS' takeover. In one notable incident, a priest was reportedly ordered to remove the cross he was wearing by an HTS-militant in the village of Kafrbo, in the Hemto countryside. These repeated ā€œindividual incidentsā€ have left many Syrians deeply concerned about their future and their ability to practice their religion freely, as they have for over a millennia.
