Nonetheless, you can’t do this for all the questions and they happen to me rarely because most times I always have an experience for each question. 8. See an interview as a conversation. Put on a smile and do not be scared to ask a clarifying question. You could say? Please can you elaborate on what you meant by “lack of financial capacity” I am not sure of the context? Interviewers want you to succeed, so enjoy the process. 9. This might be unpopular but I stopped practicing a day before the interview and I focus more on logistics. E.g. getting to the venue on time. Deciding on the clothes I wear. Ensuring my laptop or phone is fully charged if it’s an online interview. Checking for internet connectivity. Testing all the networks and setting my interview table. I could recall in 2019 when I had an online interview and noticed I do not have enough data on my phone. I was also a bit broke. So I had three sims and I borrowed data from all the networks. Just in case something happens along the line and they came to my rescue when I needed it. So don’t prepare for the interview forgetting the logistic part of the process. 10. Don’t be anybody else. Just be yourself and let yourself shine. Be in control of the next question. Let your response set the tone for the interview. Let them feel the awe of your present and personality. Be natural and enjoy the whole process. Again, I am not an expert and there were some interviews that I did that didn’t go the way I planned it. Do not beat yourself and self-reflect. Then if there is an opportunity to get feedback. Ask for one. Don’t get a rejection and say that it’s their loss. It is not their fault and they are humans like you. If you are in the position you will do the same too. Rather take that as a learning opportunity. Request for a conversation and carefully listen to the feedback. They had remember you when you apply again. Attitude sometimes trump skills and shows a sign of leadership and emotional intelligence. Top 10 tips that have worked for me in either a scholarship or job interview. Before, I proceed I will like to mention that this is not perfect and I have also not passed through some interviews but I have had an 80% interview success rate. Nonetheless, in the last three years for every scholarship or fellowship interview, I have gotten into. I have had a 100% success rate. What worked or made the difference? Find my top 10 tips below. 1. Once you get into an interview, you already have a 90% chance of getting in. So all you need to do is to sharpen the existing knowledge you know about the scholarship, job, or interview. This is the time to probably watch more videos on Youtube to learn more about the scholarship giving body or the ethos of the organization you want to work with. Watch their CEO talk, watch interview series of previous scholars. Read the blog about the organization's history. Unconsciously you would start inculcating the why of the scholarship or job you are interviewing for and they might come in handy when you are asked, what interest in you in this scholarship or job? Or why did you apply? Or some random question you have not prepared for. I have seen this happen to me a couple of times, most especially during my MasterCard and Chevening Interview. 2. Always take advantage of free time. In traffic! In your bed! Try to read some random stuff about the job and scholarship. Those things you think might not matter might come in handy. For example impact stories of the scholarship. Impact stories of the job. And thinking about how do you see yourself amplifying those impacts. Personally, I write down names from those impact stories and they come in handy in interviews. 3. Curate a list of questions based on the criteria listed or the questions you have answered in the preceding stage which could be an essay response or a cover letter stating your competency and skills. Create a response to those questions using bullets and speak to them from the heart based on your experience. The best responses are responses that are not crammed but come from your heart. Don’t make the mistake of cramming your answers. You would not sound natural. 4. Use your list of questions to conduct a mock interview. Keep practicing and be acquainted with your responses. If it’s a job, list out the competencies and what is it from your experience that aligns with those competencies. Sometimes recruiters are looking for pointers and relevant experiences. You should also practice with a friend or family members. They know you better. 5. Reach out to the specific scholarship Alumni! This is not a blank cheque to reach out to me. But what I have learned is Alumni may even have more tips that made them scale the interview. People have different patterns that work for them. If they have time some may conduct a mock interview with you and it’s always the best. For Jobs, I do not reach out to people within the company. I just crack it. I love adventures. I just keep researching and taking every interview step as a learning opportunity. Most times, we learn a lot about ourselves in the interview process. Pay attention to those things. 6. Don’t forget to pause after each question. I know you are in hurry to answer all the questions but I have been in interviews where I was just answering the questions without pausing. My answers were not that great and I did not get the role. So reflecting on the questions for at least a few seconds would always be helpful. 7. Be truthful and confident. I could recall being asked a question about something that I know but I have not experienced the scenario. So I said “I know about this particular subject. I have been trained in it but it has never happened to me. However, if it happens, this is the step, I will take and I will ensure I do this and this. I understand the scholarship is about blah blah…Being creative, truthful, and confident does not hurt. I have learned this in my interviews.

DEAR DESIGNER, THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE THE BEST OF 2022. 1.Have a plan, and plan ahead. Write down what you want to achieve in a weeks time and look for a way to achieve it. If you don't know what you want how can you achieve it. You must first know what you want out of this year is it a job? A house? A spouse? How will getting a job help you achieve these? And then decide on how you will get a job you need. 2. Clear your mind of every negativity and create space for positivity and possibilities. How did yesteryear present itself? It doesn't matter. The time is now. Now is the right time to succeed. Start afresh as the year is fresh. You must start laying the blocks of success in your mind if you must make the best of this year. What can you do in your own little way to start pressing for the mark of success? 3. Make up your mind and be determined to succeed in your job hunt this year. Don't take no for an answer. Relentlessly chase opportunities. Prepare for opportunities, don't just relax and let opportunities slip out of your hand again. Prepare for it. Learn from yesteryear what you must do to succeed and achieve all your career goals this year. 4.Don't give up on that dream or desire, finally be determined to succeed. Refuse to give up. Repeat these words to yourself aloud "I will not quit, I will succeed and I will make it", now place your hand on your chest and repeat them to yourself. Groom your dogged determination, this is the time to be stubborn with your dreams by tirelessly chasing after them with great commitment. If everybody gives up on you never give up on yourself, you are what you've got. Remember to succeed you must be determined. For the believer Let not your heart be troubled, you believe in God believer also in Jesus Christ. Actively pursue success because there is no other way to succeed. Happy Wonderful New Year.
