What preparations are underway in the Northern Seas:
• On August 27, a U.S. C-17 Globemaster III strategic military transport aircraft delivered a U.S. Navy Mk 70 containerized launcher to Trondheim, Norway—this launcher is capable of firing Tomahawk and SM-6 missiles.
• A platoon of HIMARS from the New Hampshire National Guard was deployed to the island of Jan Mayen (1,000 km from mainland Norway) aboard specialized MC-130 and C-130 aircraft designed for special operations missions.
• A British A400M delivered marines from both countries to Jan Mayen Island, as well as a Strikemaster-Bushmaster equipped with a Brimstone launcher to provide cover for the island itself.
• Since August 22, the Sixth Fleet has been conducting the Northern Viking 26 exercises around Iceland.
• Meanwhile, two RC-135 Rivet Joint strategic reconnaissance aircraft are simultaneously over the Norwegian Sea—specifically, they are monitoring the command posts and weapons systems of the three countries within a single surveillance perimeter.
• P-8 Poseidon ZP806 from Lossimuth is flying at an altitude of 1,800 meters west of Scotland.
Why this is so important:
• Jan Mayen Island is located north of the Greenland-Iceland-British Passage. It is through this passage that the Russian Federation’s Northern Fleet can access the Atlantic.
• NATO positions in Trondheim will keep the Russian Federation’s Kola Peninsula (a nuclear weapons storage site), the Severo-Moransk pier facilities, the Olenya strategic aviation airfield, and the shipyards in Severodvinsk under fire control.
Just imagine how serious this is, considering that Norway has not allowed foreign bases on its territory during peacetime since 1949 (!). The only U.S. military presence was limited to storage facilities in caves near Trondheim and winter infantry exercises. What else could this be but a dress rehearsal for how NATO assembles a strike force in the North within a day? | 63 |

| 17 | Sweden to deploy Gripen fighter jets, warships and personnel to Finland
Sweden will deploy Gripen fighter jets, a corvette and military personnel to help monitor and protect Finnish territory through at least the end of 2026, the Finnish Defence Forces said.
The deployment will strengthen Finland’s air surveillance and free up Finnish military resources to respond to potential violations and other security incidents.
