One of the biggest hazards with long guns in close quarters is your opponent grabbing the muzzle of your weapon and effectively neutralizing your ability to fight with it, if not beating your ass and disarming you in the worst case. It’s why despite the doubtful half mocking questioning about why I carried my own M7 bayonet overseas I didn’t care. In close quarters I put pointy on stick and you think twice before grabbing it.
