FACTS OF THE CASE: - The incident of snake bite was reported at 06:40 PM on 10 Aug 2023 on the shift mobile, by Mr. Kamal, Security Officer. The mother of the child from wing 10 sought help to take the child to the hospital. The SO took immediate action to call for the Ambulance and sent to Wing 10 Area. The security Supervisor was alerted to follow the ambulance. The child was taken in the ambulance by the parents to Manipal Hospital, Whitefield. The child has been kept under observation as informed by the parent who confirmed that it was a non-poisonous snake. Exact location of the snake bite is not yet known as the child was unaccompanied by the parents, but it was in and around Wing 12 Play area. Subsequently, the Property Manager had visited the Childrens Play area along with Maintenance Manager Mr. Anand and the Security Team. The children’s Play area has been closed. ACTION TAKEN: •    The Childrens Play area was immediately cordoned off as a precautionary measure. •    Snake repellent was once again dropped in that area. A guard was posted to observe any snake movement with a snake handling equipment. •    Wedelia Plants just next to the turf has been removed and will be replaced by Grass. With this, any reptile movements can be easily observed. •    Pest control & landscaping team ( Field officers) has been instructed to increase the application of appropriate pesticides to weed off pests that may attract reptiles. RECOMMENDATIONS: •    The children’s play area was found with lot of food waste particles as many parents/care takers are observed to be feeding the children there. This attracts the rodents followed by Snakes. •     As such, sensitising the residents not to carry food to the play area is recommended. •    The Wedelia plants in and around the play area is recommended to be replaced by Grass. A patch of Wedelia next to the walk way is recommended to be retained in a pattern. •    The Play area would be closed till 12 Aug 23 as to avoid any after effects of the pesticides being used in the area.
