Source Analysis ———————— Standard book can be PSP/KL Kapoor/DIAS Notes ▪️This yeas also a significant number of numericals are directly from Gurdeep Raj. So if you wish to work out numericals in physical, first choice is Gurdeep Raj - this book can be completed in very less time and will boost your confidence in the exam hall when you see the exact same questions which can save you time. ▪️Many questions in inorganic [co-ordination] chemistry were directly taken from Huheey. In 2020, the choice of inorganic questions were from J D Lee. 90 Marks from a book which is not found in other sources usually can make a huge difference for someone who has completed the book and there were few toppers for whom Inorganic meant Huheey despite its tough level.

Choice wise Analysis —————————— Compulsory 1 and 5 had difficult level questions which cannot be left Question 2 seemed to be on the tougher side altogether [some questions as whole and in some only some sub part] Question 3 with higher level numericals and fringe topics would have been a leave for a normal aspirant Question 4 was an easy one except one sub part making it one of the choice for the 3 Choice questions Question 6 again is comfortable for serious aspirants and hence makes the 2nd Choice question to be attempted Question 7 and 8 both have difficult level questions but the choice can be made on basis of individual preference based on personal strengths So finally the choices made can be 1,5,4,6,7 That translates to a potential raw score of 160 attemptable and 110-115 as scorable marks. This is a very low score compared to last year [2020: 240 attemptable and 165-170 scorable] [click here for 2020 analysis] and definitely the paper is on tougher side. Moderation took care of this difficulty as seen in mark lists of toppers Disclaimer 1 : Categorisation into difficult, easy and medium is HIGHLY subjective. Chapter wise analysis ——————————— The Big 5 for the Paper 1 remains the same - Coordination, Electrochemistry, Bonding, Kinetics, Thermodynamics These are the chapters without which one cannot simply score well in Paper I. These should be the first priority. Even though Atomic structure has a lower weightage, it is a constant topic in compulsory question and can always join the league of the Big 5
