Crafting and playing the oud: A living musical heritage in Iran 🎻
Iran and Syria jointly inscribed the oud—its craftsmanship and performance—on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2022. A typical oud takes about 25 days to make, with a pear-shaped walnut sound box and five pairs of strings.
