Just filed my submission on a matter of law regarding my recent conviction and ten week prison sentence for disturbing religious worship. (Disturbing Homosexual Discussion) The three day appeal trial at the Melbourne County Court begins on March 1st. This is an interesting case as the verdict will set a legal precedent. What is a religion? And who can be protected from disturbance? If the county court upholds the magistrates decision that means that any group that meet a three tier criterion can not be lawfully disturbed or disquieted in public. The three tier criterion is: 1. Believes in a Divine Being. 2. Follows a text. 3. Performs rituals If the conviction is upheld any group is protected in public. Update soon.
