Sooo..are there any selfhosted apps that actually take advantage the parallel job processing of k8s? Because after everyone saying k8s is the best thing ever, I realised 99.999% of selfhosted apps can only run as a single container, and will never take advantage of the paralleism job nature that k8s and swarms provide. File management + NAS + media all with remote access I have a plex environment on my win10 host and can remotely access it 1080p (higher resolution possible?) And I'm addicted to this ownership I have a synology NAS and love the features. But I'd like something that has better performance and lighter weight. So I hear a lot of good things about nextcloud and true NAS and using virtual machines to reduce the physical hardware space sounds great. Does this mean I should look into proxmox? BreezyHr open source alternatives? I was using BreezyHR to manage candidates I was tracking. However, Breezy decided to disassociate my account from the company I was had setup and now I've pretty much lost all the data that I had inputted. I tried getting it re-associated, but haven't had much luck. Is there a self-hosted option similar to breezy that I could setup? DuckDNS/Reddit Quick question for anyone that uses DuckDNS. I see that " Reddit Legal has requested that we stop using the Reddit oAuth API to allow you to login to this site." and " They extended the switch off date to the 8 March 2021, we have now took down the ability to login with Reddit oAuth. " I was unaware and missed the date to delete my domains and add them to a different login. I tried to login with my token but obviously that doesn't work. Light Photo Gallery for Windows Hey all, I have my photos automatically syncing with a Windows machine, and I was wondering if there was an easy photo gallery tool that would run on windows. Jump host choice Hi, So I've a goal in mind. I want to be able to access some kind of jump host on my network from any computer and securely of course. Today I've setup guacamole with 2FA exposed through my reverse proxy. I've also setup a Pop_OS! 20.10 VM I'm accessing in guacamole using RDP. I'm pretty happy with this setup except for one thing... The RDP connection performance and bad OS integration... What kind of system + connection method would you recommend for that purpose ? paying for a NAS build - any slightly more open source alternatives to synology while still having bays and small form factor? tl;dr want small FOSS-friendly (think system76) computer for files at home; will pay; have advice? Hi all, I've been eyeing helios64 forever, but they've only ever been out of stock. my personal requirements: - a) ok: software maintenance. I'm a software developer, so not too annoyed to do some setup (e.g. install a distro's ISO, setup open media vault, maybe go so far as to setup ansible for easier maintenance/self-documentation). - i'm okay with this overhead because I don't plan to tweak nearly anything - I don't currently plan to use this NAS for anything other than the onsite receptacle for my family's laptops' encrypted, automated backups. - b) not ok: getting into pc assembly. I really just want to pay for the machine that will write to disks for me. That is: I want all the thoughtfully assembled components/assembly I see when I look at a picture of a synology or a helios64, but I (a) understand synology's using their own proprietary software I'd have to trust(?), and (b) would feel more comfortable knowing I can just install my own OS if the need arises. While helios64 seems like a fit, they've been out of stock as long as I've known about them. Are there any alternatives to them? Any open source alternatives to the helios64? - c) the sort of machine I'd love to just pay for delivery of: 1. 4-5 bays for 3.5" drives (more the better), eg for a RAID 6 setup 2. relatively small: not too much bigger than the bays themselves - eg maybe twice the size of the block of bays 3. no other purchases required: other than buying my own drives, and maybe bringing my own ISO if I want, I don't want to have go get anything else (eg. I don't want to figure out how to pick a power supply, sufficient cpu fan, etc.) I keep toying with following a PC building guide, and learning about hardware just enough to build my own case, but I'd really rather just pay to have someone else do that. Am I missing something obvious? (eg: maybe synology does fit the bill? or there's a lot more than just helios64 out there?). Bye bye Synology.... Question... it this a sideways move, or a move up in your opinions?? Anything you would call out I'm missing? So, I picked up an older Synology DS216Play last year to replace an old WD My Cloud NAS. It's done it's job admirably, but I can't help but think there's a lot missing... DSM 7 has been great, and the Photos Apps is really quite nice... but the fact it doesn't support things like facial recognition just annoys me... plus the lack of expandability on that NAS (2 bay, soldered memory) limits the speeds too. I've been looking as something to replace it... and am leaning towards something like an HP Microserver. I can pickup an N40L for 75 euros here... which gives me 4 (or 5 inc the optical) bays, expandable memory, the ability to throw any OS on there I want, plus the ability to pop in PCI cards if I want to add higher speed networking or a GPU in the future. Oddly enough, I could probably sell the DS216Play for aroudn 125 euro, and end up quids in. I'm planning on throwing TrueNAS on there (I already have a pew Proxmox machines for VMs) do though I dont plan on adding VMs, maybe one day. Has anyone experience of these older gen HPs? Easier way than editing /etc/hosts on every computer? Alright so I have a few services setup for selfhosting things, portainer, some media servers, websites, selfhosted twitch equivalent and some nextcloud. Everything works fine over www but internally i need to edit hosts file on every computer... What's the procedure here? Do I have an internal DNS? If I change the dns 1 and 2 in my router to something internal like my server then I wouldn't be able to resolve google.com for example... What is a good way to monitor an RSS feed and auto-post social media updates? Using Linux as a self-hosted source, what would be a good way to pull this off? The goal is to monitor an RSS feed or WP blog. If a new post occurs, to auto-share it to the popular social options. Basically taking the place of IFTTT and/or NextScripts plugin for WP. It would be for a relatively small blog on basic shared-hosting, so my friend wants to get rid of relying on plugins as much since they slow things down on their host. That and IFTTT has become increasingly unreliable for their Wordpress service keeping a connection. So my idea was to move things to a self-hosted solution for the automation of things and let the blog, simply be, a blog (on its cruddy host). I was looking at huginn, but it didn't look like it had much social support beyond Twitter and a few other basic things (and it feels a bit confusing, not that I've tried to install and use it yet...my opinion is based on screenshots so far hah). https://redd.it/ncsmry @r_SelfHosted

Looking for game server control panel for selling game servers Hello, A few friends and I started a (web-) hosting company years ago. We've now reached the point to have enough rented servers to get heavy discounts on dedicated servers. As a result we experimented with installing and running multiple game servers. We used pterodactyl in our tests, but it's lacking some features (enabling users to reinstall their server with a different game version, example: switch vanilla Minecraft to forge). Do you know any good game hosting panel which is easy to integrate in a billing system, or at least has an API to custom code an integration? (or has its on billing system integrated?) It would need to support multiple servers, it would be awesome (but not necessary) if it would run the games in (docker) containers.
