Is One Evidence Enough For You?
Al-Muhaddith Al-Albaanee, may Allaah have mercy upon him:
The person who is seeking the truth, one evidence will be enough for him. A person who is upon their desires, a thousand evidences will still not be clear for him.

أمّا بعد:
It is reported that 'Abdullāh Ibnul-Mubārak, may Allāh have mercy upon him, said:
الإِسْنَادُ مِنَ الدِّينِ وَلَوْلاَ الإِسْنَادُ لَقَالَ مَنْ شَاءَ مَا شَاءَ.
"The chains of narration are from the religion, and if it wasn't for the chains of narration then whoever could say whatever they wished."
[Introduction Of Sahīh Muslim, No. 32]
On the authority of (Muhammad) Ibn Sīrīn, may Allāh have mercy upon him, that he said:
"They would not ask about the chains of narration, and when the fitnah occurred, they said: 'Name for us your men.' So the people of the Sunnah would be regarded, and their Hadīth were taken, and the people of innovation would be regarded, and their Hadīth were not taken."
[Introduction Of Sahīh Muslim, No. 27]
The knowledge of the men of Hadīth is an important topic to be learnt, and a must for the one who is studying the knowledge of Hadīth. Through this knowledge you learn the names, time periods, and conditions of the men etc., which are all important as this is how the scholars of Ahadīth find out the authenticity or weakness of the Hadīth. These men are the means through which Allāh ﷻ brought us our beautiful religion of Al-Islām today. These men sacrificed and dedicated their lives for the sake of this religion and it's very important that we recognise this sacrifice of theirs for us and know who they are.
The sad reality is that we live in a time where the majority of the Muslims can name celebrities and perhaps even entire squads of sport teams but if you were to ask them about those who protected this religion, then they don't have the capability to name ten or twenty companions of the Prophet ﷺ, or five names from the students of the companions.
These are the men that truly cared for us and this religion, whereas your favourite athletes don't even know that you exist and furthermore, the majority may even dislike your religion. We need to check our hearts and priorities. If there are men in this world who deserve our love it is the Prophet ﷺ, his companions, and those who spread this religion.
May Allāh make us sincere and successful. We ask Allāh, Al-Karīm, to make this of great benefit for us and this nation, and a means of rectification and guidance for us all.

Allah’s Sacred Month of Muharram
It is the first month of the Hijri calendar and is one of the four sacred months concerning which Allah says that which translates as:
“Verily, the number of months with Allah is 12 months (in a year), so it was ordained by Allah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them, four are sacred. That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein.” (Qur’an, 9:36)
Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“The year is 12 months of which four are sacred, the three consecutive months of Dul Qadah, Dul Hijjah and Muharram, and Rajab, which comes between Jumada and Shaban.” (Bukhari)
Muharram is called this because it is a sacred (muharram) month and to confirm its sanctity. Allah Almighty says that which translates as:
“...so wrong not yourselves therein …” (Tafsir of Ibn Kathir)
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
‘The best of fasting after Ramadan is fasting Allah’s month of Muharram.” (Muslim)
Ibn Abbas said: “The Prophet (ﷺ) came to Madinah and saw Jews fasting on Ashura. He said, ‘What is this?’ They said, ‘This is a righteous day, it is the day when Allah saved the Children of Israel from their enemies, so Musa fasted on this day.’ He (ﷺ) said, ‘We have more right to Musa than you,’ so he fasted on that day and commanded (the Muslims) to fast on that day.” (Bukhari)
The practice of fasting on Ashura was known even in the days of Jahiliyyah, before the Prophet’s mission. It was reported that Ayesha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: “The people of Jahiliyyah used to fast on that day.”
Apparently the motive for commanding the Muslims to fast on this day was the desire to be different from the Jews, so that the Muslims would fast when the Jews did not, because people do not fast on a day of celebration. (Bukhari)
Fasting on Ashura was a gradual step in the process of introducing fasting as a prescribed obligation in Islam.
Fasting appeared in three forms. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to Madinah, he told the Muslims to fast on three days of every month and on the day of Ashura, then Allah made fasting obligatory when He said:
“ … observing the fasting is prescribed for you …" (Al-Qur’an, 2:183)
The obligation was transferred from the fast of Ashura to the fast of Ramadan.
It was reported from Ibn Mas’ud that when fasting Ramadan was made obligatory, the obligation to fast Ashura was lifted i.e. it was no longer obligatory to fast on this day, but it is still desirable (mustahab).
