بســـم اللــه الرحــمــن الـرحـــيــم ▪️Supplication for going to the masjid▪️ Our Shaykh, Muhammad ibn Hizām -may Allāh preserve him- was asked the following question: 📩 Question: The questioner says: Is there an authentic supplication that is said when going to the masjid? 📝 Answer: There comes the ḥadīth of Ibn Abbās, reported by Bukhāri and Muslim, that after offering the two voluntary units before Fajr, the Prophet ﷺ would go out for Fajr, saying: ‏ ((اللهم اجعل لي في قلبي نورا واجعل لي في سمعي نورا وفي بصري نورا وفي لساني نورا وعن يميني نورا وعن شمالي نورا ومن أمامي نورا ومن خلفي نورا ومن تحتي نورا ومن فوقي نورا اللهم عظم لي نورا)) "O Allāh, place light in my heart, light in my hearing, light in my eyesight, light upon my tongue, place light on my right side and on my left side, place light in front of me and behind me, place light below me and above me. O Allāh, increase my light." And it has not been reported that he ﷺ ever said it when heading to any of the other prayers, so it should be confined to what was stated in the ḥadīth; that he says this supplication when going to the Fajr prayer only.
